First get all the part numbers needed then go on a BMW dealer site like tischer to compare pricing. You need to find out shipping also since most of the parts are large and oversized. The other options is buy it back like other have mentioned and then find some good used parts to repair on your own budget. | | | 07-21-2008, 07:41 PM | #17 | Member Join Date: May 2008 Location: Spruce Creek, PA Posts: 56 | This is why I'm a member - because you guys are awesome -- Front QP -- $264.49 Rear QP -- $323.64 Gas Fill assembly -- Approx $55 Door -- $510 mirror assembly -- approx $350 Assuming they can save the door handle -($103.51) $1500 for parts at realoem.com gotta go at the moment... thanks for the link suggestion | | | 07-21-2008, 07:48 PM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | well think about mirrors for a second. you can save 250 if you buy some m3 mirrors from ddm or i bet quite a few members here will sell you their old passenger side mirror for dirt cheap. also the door you may be able to find at a junk yard try http://car-part.com/ and search for a 2 door but then it will bring up compact in the final results __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 07-21-2008, 09:21 PM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Bremerhaven, Germany Posts: 977 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak F that, this is America, sue the deer | In Germany, you don't have to sue because the deer are insured. He sounded a lot more confident than the other guy I talked to Monday that we'd be able to get it fixed. I found a guy here that has the door and both fenders for sale, and I told the adjuster that and that I wanted to do whatever I could to keep the car. So we'll see how this all turns out. One other question -- I'm having battery problems all of a sudden. Tues. morning it was a little weak and really weak Tuesday after work. I noticed there are two leads running to the mirror --- could there be a short somewhere causing a battery draw? I've never had battery problems before. I got home Sun. morning around 1am, didn't drive the car again until 6am Tuesday. I have a pretty long drive to work (30min or so) so hopefully it is charging enough that I don't kill the battery. Any thoughts on this problem? | | | 07-23-2008, 03:05 AM | #26 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | My car had it's door replaced and the rear quarter panel fixed for $600 or so, they bondoed the rear quarter panel. So maybe $1500? 2000? | | | 07-24-2008, 04:00 AM | #27 | Member Join Date: May 2008 Location: Spruce Creek, PA Posts: 56 | I found out today that they're going to fix my car. He said "it isn't nearly as bad as I figured" -- maybe I freaked out describing it, I dunno. I'm having major electrical drainage now. It wouldn't start today after work. Luckily a woman I worked with loaned me her battery boster for the day, and it going to sell me another one she has tomorrow. I only have to make it until Monday then my car is in the shop. Thanks to everyone here for the advice. I'm so happy I won't lose this car. | | | 08-01-2008, 12:14 PM | #28 | Member Join Date: May 2008 Location: Spruce Creek, PA Posts: 56 | I wanted to post that my estimate ran over $4k, and I'm supposed to get it back Aug 12. But the worst of it all is that they put me in a Pontiac G6. OMFG what a POS. Everything is made of the cheapest plastic, the doors are designed by... well I don't really think they had a designer per se. Lets just say I have to fold my self up just to get in the car, but once inside I have 6" of headroom. How dumb is that? If the G6 is the darling of the US car industry, the US car industry has a long way to go yet. The only cool things about the car are the radio and sensors attached to it, the telescoping steering wheel (even considering that it also has plasticy garbage on it), and ok handling for a front drive car. Other than that I hate it. | | | 08-01-2008, 05:21 PM | #29 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Quote: Originally Posted by jtbeemer I wanted to post that my estimate ran over $4k, and I'm supposed to get it back Aug 12. I had a G6 rental and it was alright. The thing I hate about most cars is that you have to positively STOMP on the gas to get it going, especially uphill. I've heard the G8 is a trip though, especially the sport versions. Probably won't ever go domestic though. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
