it's actually not bad at all. If you want to do the headliner at the same time, I would recommend removing it yourself and taking it somewhere to have it done professionally, along with the liner and pillars to match if needed. I ran my switch to the armrest with the headliner out. Careful not to break the caps off the oh**** handles. You have to remove the visors and lights. I'd suggest bagging / labeling up the screws in ziplocks to keep organized. The moonroof cartridge drops down with removing about 8-10 screws- (certain type can't recall right now). I'd pop the hatch first so you can rest the cartridge on the rear seats/tray. Or you can set it up outside of the car within reach of powering it up. For the switch I sourced another and wired it using home depot wiring, the "small 4 separate wires in one sheath" stuff. A dremmel is perfect for cutting the hole in front of the cupholder, however I'd run it to the blank under the window switch because the coinholder interferes - at least on mine- with the seating of the switch frame. With the roof powered and stable, you can run the motor...there is a couple things you have to do to get the liner out and back in correctly. First -if you drop the roof as if to open it, it drops before it slides back. If you look at the tracking where it's in the drop position, you'll see the white channel hook in line with the opening and it'll pop up allowing the liner to slide out. You can recover the liner. I used a spray adhesive and my roof liner turned out mint....wish I could say the same for the headliner attempt. When you are ready to reinstall the liner, run the motor until the tow nib in the track is at the very bottom, you can slide the liner in from the bottom over that tow nib, and it grabs and tows the liner in from there. (I wasted hours trying to get the liner back in by popping the plastic hook in where it pops out with the tow nib in position up there- not correct- it would pop up, and close, but not open all the way back). Test for proper function. Reinstall- Also use some threadlocker on the cartridge screws, shoot maybe all the screws going into the roof to avoid future squeaks. It's not a hard job. Save yourself the hassle and have your fabric work done right. Would removing/reinstalling the liners yourself save you cash from having a shop do it? probably... josh __________________ [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] |
