Talking spanked a civic Si

Alright so last saturday night I was just cruisin around cuz I was bored and and this 2001 civic Si pulls along side me and its one of my buddies riding with a guy from work. The guy driving was like "ha, a 318, they are weak, what a discrace to bmw" of course my friend was like that car is not weak. Anyway we pulled to a stop light and the light turns green and both of us didnt luanch but we hit in first gear at about 3k and then let off at about 45mph in second gear. And by the time I let off I was atleast 3-4 car lengths ahead, so he comes back up next to me and I said were you even on it? And the guy is cursing and all pissed off and my friend in the passenger seat was just laughing so hard cuz the guy was so pissed off. Afterwards my friend said that he was on it the hole time and he caught second gear rubber, which to me is weird cuz the civic Si's are rated at 160hp and a 15.9 1/4 mile and my car runs mid 16's. I was wondering how I beat him, so I did a little research to find out why. I think its because honda's engines make very little torque for their size and that the i-VTEC in the b20 doesnt kick in untill 5,500 rpm, so he was only in VTEC for about a half of a second which was why he got his @ss handed to him.

It's also alot harder to launch a FWD car properly. It can be done, but RWD responds better to a poor launch than FWD will. That and 318s are SERIOUSLY underrated, but that's just my opinion

Congrats on the kill. I've been looking for a stock pre hatchback Si to run against. No luck so far.

My younger sis owns one of those (hatchback si '01).... while my older used to own a Focus hatchback SVT... which she had MANY problems with, so she got a Saturn Sports Coupe. I don't know much about the Saturn, other than she likes it better... go figure.

So the moral of the story is to only race up to 45mph!

Now, if there was supercharger or even better, a euro m3 transplant done you would have not only killed the car but the guys ego as well. Ignorant ricers are fun. I am still haveing the internal debate on wether I want m3 badges on my future project or not. They look so cool but sleepers are also cool in there own right.

I am very familiar with JDM cars, more so then DTM. I actually like the new Civic Si, fun little car. Its a double standard for both theaters of performance tuning. JDM guys think of DTM as fragile and weak while DTM guys tend to stereotype the guy behind the wheel of the ricer as some boy racer wannabe.

Now... if you find the guy with the un-painted body kit on a gurgly sounding car its a safe bet you can stick a stereotype to him/her. My biggest pet peave with cars is unpainted body kits. I ride a sportbike so I get racing challenges from these punks all the time and its always fun to spank a honda that for some reason thinks it can take you... (beleive me, there are honda that can, just most u won't find on the street).

around here there are some nice sleepercivics but then there are the morons with the huge wings and folgers coffee can mufflers that are just hilarious. But what made this little ordeal funny to me is that he said "ah 318's they are weak, what a discrace to BMW" that was a direct quote from this guy according to my friend, then after saying all that he gets his @ss spanked by a nearly stock 318
