They are 55w which is the same as my off-road vehicle - fine for 40mph but not road speeds. Is there any issue with installing higher wattage bulbs (i.e. ones for the brights) into the lobeam sockets. | | | 04-15-2009, 04:21 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | if you install high-beam bulbs as your low beams, everyone's going to flash you and you'll get pulled over a lot if the 55w isn't bright enough you probably need to have your headlights aimed | | | 04-15-2009, 04:23 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | yeah better get the right ones, depending on the cops in your area they can make a big deal about it. | | | 04-15-2009, 07:15 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: San Diego Posts: 231 | It turns out they won't go in anyway, they are type 9005 and the lo-beams are type 9006. The hi-beam bulbs are 60w vs the 55w lo-beams, but are twice as bright. Weird. | | | 04-18-2009, 06:30 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Quote: Originally Posted by bmvw The hi-beam bulbs are 60w vs the 55w lo-beams, but are twice as bright. Weird. | It's all about beam pattern. That, and when your high beams are on, so are your lows (double the light). __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 04-18-2009, 07:11 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: San Diego Posts: 231 | I mean the lo's look more like 25watts or something.
