Well I ran down to the dealer with the '98 ti I was looking at. Thing was in awful shape. At first glance it looked good, but then I got to the details and boy..was it bad. Dealer rep was there with me when I saw a gap between the end of the front bumper and the side body panel. I put my finger in the gap and 3/4th of the bumper came right off. Scratches and small dents everywhere, leather ripped in the interior. It was missing interior door handles, the cargo cover, and the plastic that surrounded the steering column. All for the low low price of 9,700!! It was sad...I really like the look of this car! Anyone know someone selling a ti with a good history? | | | 08-19-2006, 08:04 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: CA Posts: 104 | I am. I'm like "Look, I can make this a project car, but there's no way I can make it look good to meet my own standards, show it, or really race this thing. I can make you an offer of about 3.5k to take this off your hands, because no one is going to buy it." He replied, "Well then why do I get so many phone calls about it?" I replied, "Because it's a rare car, and it's a cheap BMW, but why is it still here if it's such a deal?" He then replies, "Well be purchased it at auction for 8k, I can't let it go for less than that." Me, "Well then you're looking for a sucker, and you paid too much for your car." As mean as I sound, it was a fairly friendly conversation because I wasn't going to buy it. | | | 08-20-2006, 09:46 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: San Juan Capo, CA Posts: 216 | no but your right man ... i got mine for 7900 and it was in great condision woth lots of mods .... so somethings not right __________________ 96 318ti:cat back magniflow, m3 body kit, projector headlights, m3 tails, moded ecu chip, intake, short shifter, highflow cat, front strut, upgraded audio system | | | 08-20-2006, 11:20 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Portland Oregon Posts: 1,363 | Damn i got my ti with 106XXX miles, almost perfect for 5 grand | | | 08-20-2006, 01:30 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Weymouth, MA Posts: 215 | I just got mine like 2 months ago, from a privat seller in autotrader.com. I was looking for it almost a year. It's really hard to fine one here in MA expecially the stick. It's very rare car around here. CptnNemo I am in Weymouth MA next door to you. If you want I can come with you next time when you find a ti, so we can take a look at it together. The dealers want too much money for this car. They get it from auctions for about $3000-4000 and they wanna make big money huh. 9,700 is a crazy price for stock ti... | | | 08-21-2006, 05:08 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Philly, PA Posts: 189 | I’ll sell you mine, 206K plus miles. | | | 08-26-2006, 01:38 AM | #13 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Greensboro, North Carolina Posts: 77 | $9,000 is way to high of a price for a 98 TI. back in 1999 I paid a little over $12,000 for a 95 TI. __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
