Default OBD code PO340

The OBD code P0340 (camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction) just recently appeared. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what did you do to correct the problem?
I haven't done anything to the car just yet but I was considering buying a new sensor in case it was bad. And if it's not the sensor is there anything else I should be looking out for that could cause this code to go off? I haven't been experiencing anything abnormal but it does feel a bit sluggish at times.

Replaced the sensor. The insulation on the wires on my knock, cam and crank sensors degraded from age and were shorting intermittently.

And if you couldn't find any search results for that code- It's P zero three four zero.

Ok thank-you for the replies! I'll replace the sensor and hopefully the code goes away.
