Just a quick project before it gets too cold to work on the car.

I inserted a 60W dimmer control (left over from a project) between the backup lights and switch to reduce its contact erosion. The dimmer's current limiting should roughly quadruple the switch's life if the cold filament current surge is making it fail. While I had things apart, I wired up the Japanese market, in-reverse ping to monitor the switch and dimmer. It's easy to unplug if I decide to silence it.

wasn't today, but did it last night...went to a drift event and saw an e36 with a white painted roof...so I decided to paint my roof and hatch. The clear was chipping on both the hatch and roof so this'll at least deter fading and rusting.

also took some red primer to the rusty spots to keep them from rusting. My sister's boyfriend set a goal to be able to participate in Driftober next year (assuming they have it) so I'm gonna try to get this thing drift/autoX ready in a year.

I used my inverted torx sockets along with an impact and a few extensions.

Why stop there? Use a few more colors and you'll have a "Harlequin" 318ti.

Purchased some Aircraft stripper, 3/4 wrench, 10mm 16pt socket, 3/4 to 1/2 socket, 10" extension, 16" Breaker Tool, Every grain of sand paper and a buffing kit and PB spray.

Removed all the screws and bolts from Style 5s, broke 5 stripped screws from previous owner. Got most of the screws out but my arms and wrists are killing me. It took me most of the morning to sort the tools out since none of the places I went to had all the parts or things in the same place.

Home Depot = Buffing Kit ( Drill attachment brushes), Sand Paper ($14.00)
PepBoys = 1/2 12pt socket and 10" extension 3/4 (total spent $7.00)
Rose Auto Parts = Aircraft Stripper, 16" 3/4 Breaker Tool, 3/4 to 1/2 socket($24.00)

Thinking this would be easier said than done I started trying to take the bolts off with just a 3/4 rachet but had absolutely no way of getting a spin on the bolt. I felt like I was going to pop a hernia. So this is when I decided to go and get the breaker tool and extension. I highly recommend the Breaker Tool as it ended it being all I needed for my skinny arms to get these things off.

So I broke 5 screws after realizing they were stripped so I need to sort these out somewhere. Tomorrow I hope to take the screws out of the barrel and clean them up. Once I am done stripping I will begin the sanding and polishing so it will be a few days before I am done with the primary stage. At this point I am still not sure that I will paint the wheels since this means sanding down and preping the center piece which I was not counting on because it is in great share. Hope I didn't say too much of nothing, lol.

Cleaned my injectors, cleaned my ICV, replacing the air shroud hoses to the injectors and... broke my squid.

I'll get a new one tomorrow and finish the hose replacement.
