Removed all the screws and bolts from Style 5s, broke 5 stripped screws from previous owner. Got most of the screws out but my arms and wrists are killing me. It took me most of the morning to sort the tools out since none of the places I went to had all the parts or things in the same place. Home Depot = Buffing Kit ( Drill attachment brushes), Sand Paper ($14.00) PepBoys = 1/2 12pt socket and 10" extension 3/4 (total spent $7.00) Rose Auto Parts = Aircraft Stripper, 16" 3/4 Breaker Tool, 3/4 to 1/2 socket($24.00) Thinking this would be easier said than done I started trying to take the bolts off with just a 3/4 rachet but had absolutely no way of getting a spin on the bolt. I felt like I was going to pop a hernia. So this is when I decided to go and get the breaker tool and extension. I highly recommend the Breaker Tool as it ended it being all I needed for my skinny arms to get these things off. So I broke 5 screws after realizing they were stripped so I need to sort these out somewhere. Tomorrow I hope to take the screws out of the barrel and clean them up. Once I am done stripping I will begin the sanding and polishing so it will be a few days before I am done with the primary stage. At this point I am still not sure that I will paint the wheels since this means sanding down and preping the center piece which I was not counting on because it is in great share. Hope I didn't say too much of nothing, lol. | Ebay is a decent source for replacement bolts. I have impact tools (because I am a skinny boy too) and a 2 ft breaker bar. Luckily, I didn't break any bolts disassembling mine, but be sure to use Loc-Tite on the bolts when you re-assemble... If I ever take them apart again, I will buy all new bolts... (I really want gold bolts next time...) __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. The design is different and do not show the nut or mention it. Besides there are many BBS bolts and I am not sure which will fit the BBS RC-090 aka style 5s. Has anyone actually purchased replacement bolts that fit properly. I heard that the BBS RS bolts are thinner and different length. __________________ | | | 10-18-2010, 07:50 PM | #723 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Tulsa, OK Posts: 252 | installed my new headliner and all the rest of my pillar trims yesterday __________________ 1996 318ti base: m44, 5 spd, lsd - 18x8 bremmer kraft wheels w/sumitumo tires 225/40R18 & bmw locking lug studs, 10mm spacers in rear, halo headlights, cold air intake, koni str.t struts and shocks w/mounts, h&r sport springs, serp belts, control arm & tie rod kits, front sway bar links, JVC kd-x50bt headunit w/ipod hook up in the glove box, alpine sps-500(front and rear), jl audio 10" powerwedge max, jl audio 250.1 amp, motor mounts, fuel filter, passenger side window motor, drivers lower window run, muffler hanger kit, various interior bulbs, left door striker/ajar switch, lower hood latches, changed from gray vinal to black leather shift and parking brake boots, m3 weighted shift knob, ngk-r spark plugs, magnecor spark plug wires(blue),new cabin micro-filters,new headliner & a-pillar mouldings, 5w20 synth-blend oil and filter, BG Ultra Guard syn. rear end fluid & ls additive, BG Syncro Shift II syn. manual trans fluids, stainless steel braided brake lines and dot 4 fluid, extra brake light mod, new p/s reservoir and rubber hoses need to do - fix door panels, paint job, MORE MONEY!! | | | 10-18-2010, 11:00 PM | #724 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | washed her for the last time this year and stuck her in the garage to make sure she stays clean until it's time to go into storage | | | 10-19-2010, 01:13 AM | #725 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Miami, Florida Posts: 483 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak washed her for the last time this year and stuck her in the garage to make sure she stays clean until it's time to go into storage | storage till next year? please explain? __________________ | | | 10-19-2010, 01:20 AM | #726 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: westnewyork Posts: 10 | where can i get that m-tech spoiler ......???? | | | 10-19-2010, 01:55 AM | #727 | Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Ontario, Canada Posts: 75 | Put my subwoofer back in and hooked up the amp so that I can drown out all the little noises my car has started to make after neglecting needed repairs. It sucks to be broke with a broke car. I got laid off back in January and just started a new job at a way less salary and a lot more work. But hey at least I still have my 318ti. Convinced my wife to sell her 03 Honda Pilot instead. __________________ Raymond | | | 10-19-2010, 02:15 AM | #728 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by 3.2TI storage till next year? please explain? | Brendan lives in Vermont and drives an AWD during the winter | | | 10-19-2010, 04:16 AM | #729 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | got my agressive street tune from barrie @ MIDNINGT TUNING and all i can say is wow, car feels like a different car, way way faster than with the DINAN software, barrie is the man he knows what he's doing cant be any happier with the tune and my 7300rpms red line __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 10-19-2010, 07:50 AM | #730 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by Jean H.318TI got my agressive street tune from barrie @ MIDNINGT TUNING and all i can say is wow, car feels like a different car, way way faster than with the DINAN software, barrie is the man he knows what he's doing cant be any happier with the tune and my 7300rpms red line | So I guess the loaner DME arrived today.
