BMW fixed it for like 5 bucks. It is not on 100% at the top i think one clip has gone near the top. It is secure though, and i haven't got around to taking it in. Get them to have a good look at it. | | | 04-15-2005, 02:20 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: New Jersey Posts: 363 | I had the same problem with mine, but I ended up taking it to a family friend BMW mechanic. He said all the clips were snapped and he just glued the panel on. May no be the best way to do it, but hey it stuck on real well. __________________ RIP Tonka Hitlerietta 08/03/04 - 01/25/05 | | | 04-15-2005, 02:49 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: madison, WI Posts: 402 | mine got really loose, just get some now door clips from a dealer __________________ Mods: clear turn signals, Silverstar headlight bulbs, k&N custom CAI, removed A/C, lightened crank pulley, painted brakes, custom clutch stop, custom strut bar, x-brace, custom solid tranny mounts, Memphis sound system, Sachs sport clutch, B&M short shifter, lightened flywheel, redline MTL .... They are hot-glued in place on the door panel. I had to hot-glue several back in place. The hot-glue guns are cheap, as are the glue sticks. Make sure the top clips are pushed all the way down, replace any that are missing. | | | 04-15-2005, 06:23 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Hot glue worked? I need to do this to my doors also. I was thinking of gorilla glue. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 04-15-2005, 08:03 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | Works great, if the original glue is left on the panel, just glue the pin piece right to existing glue. Had the glue come off the panel too, the bases of those pins fit into the contours on the back side of the panel, kind of tricky to get the placement just right. The hot glue hasn't come loose on probably 3 that I fixed. | | | 04-17-2005, 05:24 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Texas Posts: 1 | Hello, this is my first time to post and i drive a '95 ti. My door panels are also loose, but i've been hesitant to get BMW to fix them, because i'd like to go ahead and just replace my component system. Does anyone know, if i get my component system if the installers will go ahead and fix my door panels after they take them off to replace the speakers? | | | 04-17-2005, 05:43 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | Probably not unless they are too messed up to re-mount. Why not mention it to them, and make a print of these posts so they'll know how to fix it. #3 is the top clip on the RealOEM site: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...67&hg=51&fg=50 | | | 04-17-2005, 09:16 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | my original clips were not glued from the factory. several have rubber washers, but i thought this was an anti-rattling measure. all my clips are in-tact, and i've had no problems with the panel coming off. due to the frequency that we're all dealing with the window, i figured i'd just pick up a bag of spares. i really haven't had to replace them though, since it only takes an extra second to make sure it's lined up before hitting the panel with the heel of my palm. just make sure they're all there. | | | 05-08-2005, 01:34 AM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Posts: 25 | The top of my door panel also keeps coming loose. It seems to fit back into place with a thump of my hand, but in a short time is loose again. I did find a metal clip on the ground but not sure if it is from this door panel. The only screw I can see to release the panel is in the door pull. Is it straight forward to remove this screw and pop off the panel? Sounds like this is a common problem, probably because it is so tempting to grab the top of that panel to shut the door, the pull being a little out of the way. | | | 05-15-2005, 06:58 AM | #12 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Posts: 25 | Looks like interest has waned in this topic, but I have found why my door panel wasn't staying on; the folded over lip along the top of the panel had been slotted into the wrong side of the metal clips. Took a bit of force to push it in properly, but it's staying there. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
