Default Looking into buying a swapped Ti s52, what to look for

Hey all,

I'm looking into buying a swapped Ti with a s52 engine, but I'm not sure what to look to see any problems other than driving the car. I have a stock 318ti so I got a feel for the car it self.

Are there some particular places I should check on certain installs? I know that ABS/TC don't work with the engine swap (because of cost) but everything else in terms of electrical should work in theory right?

Thanks!

Be sure it meets your local smog laws prior to buying. I would suggest that downstream components (clutch, trans & rear diff) are upgraded. Vented rotor brakes are prolly a good idea, too. My M52/ZF/E28-diff swapped 318ti feels as fast as my '99 Z3 M Roadster, and I'm glad I updated the brakes to match the power. Good luck!

Records. Lots and lots of records. The problem with swapped cars is that there are so many ways to do a swap it is hard to know exactly what you are getting. This can get frustrating when it comes to replacement parts. I will never by a recordless swap again and whoever buys my swapped cars when the time comes will have more info than they will ever need.

The details will give you an idea of the quality. Look closely at the exhaust, power steering lines and front strut/spring selection.

thanks all, yes with out the records its a box of mystery when it comes to problems. I think I'll revisit this idea or buy Jims book and do the swap myself if I truly want more power... at least I'll learn and know what was done to the car
