When I had my M44, I was working out an electrical gremlin(loose main engine ground) and in the process I went through a bunch of alternators. One of the remanufactured alternators I had sounded like a supercharger. It wasn't a bad sound like a squeaky bearing or anything, it was more like a faint whistle or whine. I had a brand new Valeo alternator make a loud whining noise too. It was so bad that I returned as a warranty claim. I bought a rebuilt one from that California Alternator/Starter place on eBay at that was as silent as the original one in my car. | | | | |
