My adjuster unit are making a noise. Why the adjuster unit fail or make noise? Whats your function? The bad petrol quality interferes in your working life? Will i need to change it? | | | 02-04-2012, 03:24 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Why the adjuster unit fail or make noise? They get old and need to be replaced Whats your function? Keeps the belts tight The bad petrol quality interferes in your working life? Never causes idler issues Will i need to change it? Yes they should be replaced if they are noisy before they blow out the bearing and you loose the belts while driving the car | | | 02-04-2012, 10:21 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Brazil Posts: 22 | http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-BMW-...item3a6f5714f9 This is the adjuster unit that i told. what´s the relationship of it and bearings? I think that it is a intake system part. But i dont know about your function and reason of fail. Why my 1995 bmw never needed be replaced? | | | 02-05-2012, 05:18 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by luz.lucas http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-BMW-...item3a6f5714f9 This is the adjuster unit that i told. what´s the relationship of it and bearings? Adjuster unit is normally a belt tensioner. What you showed on the ebay ad is what we might call a idle control valve or DISA for a I-6 (?). Why the adjuster unit fail or make noise? Dirty valve, needs cleaning. old age (Parts are not twinkies so they don't last 20 years) Whats your function? Idle control or dual res intake. I'm not real good with I-6's. The bad petrol quality interferes in your working life? Most likely gummed up the current part and has it sticking (maybe clean the part) Will i need to change it? If you clean the current one with a Q-tip and alcohol and it still giving you issues, replace it Last edited by xxxJohnBoyxxx; 02-05-2012 at 05:21 AM. | | | 02-05-2012, 05:44 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Brazil Posts: 22 | DO you know how to clean it? | | | 02-05-2012, 07:39 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by luz.lucas DO you know how to clean it? | Remove the unit and clean all garbage out of it with alcohol and q-tip | | | 02-05-2012, 07:45 PM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Brazil Posts: 22 | A youtube video proposed glue the axis and the spades if it is slack. FOr it, you will need open the DME. What do you think? If i let it fail completly, the engine wont work? | | | 02-05-2012, 07:49 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by luz.lucas A youtube video proposed glue the axis and the spades if it is slack. The part you showed abouve is not part of the DME so that is what needs to be cleaned (The part not the DME) | | | 02-05-2012, 10:30 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by luz.lucas | That was a excellent video of how to completely rebuild the valve, you might only need to clean it to make it perfect.
