Default Stock Radio Crapped Out

Well....one day last week my radio decided to blank itself. It didn't want to turn on, but when it did it asked for the code.
Now, it doesn't even power up.
Is this pretty common? Has anyone here experienced this?
I have the factory Alpine CD changer and if I upgrade, nothing will work with it.
Any ideas, anyone.
Thanks

I'm assuming you have the correct code and input it correctly and now nothing happens? Do you know how the code works? Do you have the radio manual to show you?

If the radio is truly toast, don't sweat it. They're junk anyway so they're usually cheap on Ebay or on this list. I've got the original I took out of mine but they're worth so little to sell it's worth more to me to hang on to it in case the next owner has a hang-up on OE.

BMW radios suck. Between having to put the code in every time the battery is unhooked and the illumination problems and being 7-plus years old, be glad if it's dead. I will be replacing mine soon, as much better aftermarket units can be had for as little as $100.

If you just need the code, you should be able to obtain it from the dealer.
