Default Mike's e36 Compact Build Thread

Soo wheels finally came !

Got straight down to getting the tyres fitted and getting them tried on been worried about them not fitting for months lol

Surprisingly they fitted pretty well I had to raise the front a tad though as the chassis rails were just dragging down the road but over all I'm pretty happy with them, here's a few more pics

That harness set up you have is super dangerous.

In that picture the wheel is sat on the harness which makes it look like it's going down they are actually in the "ok" zone in the pic and bolt to the rear seat belt points

Admittedly the cross is probably just as bad but it looks cool lol!

So with help from a friend I finally got the back carpeted out, looks and sounds a lot better now, I plan on having a custom rear cage made soon too which will look pretty cool in the back I think

Got some other pictures of the car after a clean too

Also brought some rear light tint spray from the US thanks to Earls thread it made me really want to do it, So in the next couple of days I will give this a go on my old lights

PS: Chrome wheels are a nightmare to keep clean haha!

Was playing about with my side skirts at the weekend, Saw someone angle the skirts out on an e36 coupe and quite liked it so thought id see what it looked like on mine, its just mocked up at the moment but I quite like it so will make some proper brackets to hold them properly

I never saw that before. That looks pretty good without going for the "kitted out" look=)

Was going to make a number plate blank but found some proper ones on eBay so decided to just get one for shows etc, In the US you don't have to have a front plate right? UK sucks and would get pulled over every 5 mins if I ran without a plate.

Also got a pair of SlotMag wheels from a friend for £25! I was planning on using them as winter wheels, unfortunately they are 8.5J wide and a silly offset which means they didn't fit I think I would be able to just about run them if I got smaller and more stretched tyres though..

Actually quite a few states in the US require front plates. The laws are different in every state haha. Most people here disregard it until they get a few tickets for missing a front plate and then they get a removable mount. I will never put a front plate on my compact lol

Oh really I always thought the US in general were a lot more lenient on car modification, Haha I never want one on mine, but I've already been given a warning, I tried telling the police woman we had just taken them off for some photos, she then informed me she passes my car every morning on her way to work haha

Whoops hahaha. Some states here are strict (such as california) and others are lenient. I know that by me (Wisconsin) inspection is based on what county you register your car in or the age of the car. No car older than 95 goes through inspection. From there some counties require inspection on 96 and newer cars, and some counties don't require any inspection at all.
