Default Question about direct m42 swap

How difficult is a engine swap. Is there anything I should know going into this. I have two mechanics that are helping but they have never worked on a BMW before other than changing a few parts. I have never swapped an engine myself but it's now or neverNoe

as in m44 to m42 swap or you blew your m42 and are replacing it with another? m44 to m42 might confuse a few but you said mechanics are helping you so it should be rocket science to them. and m42 to m42 is pretty damn simple on its own. you problably wouldnt need a mechanics help for that. its just unbolt steering rack unbolt motor mounts lift engine drop engine :P add a few sensors and harnesses but its pretty straight forward.

Nice. I was hoping to hear that. M42 to m42. So direct replacement. Thanks for the direction.

I do believe you need the ECU from the donor.
