Default How Big?

What is the fastest engine block can I place in a 1997 318ti? Well, I am looking to improve preformance, but still want to have money for gas. Any one in the San Diego, California area know a good custom shop? Thanks!

Do you want to stay euro or just want power? I know of a guy who put a LS1 Camaro/Corvette engine in an E36. Another guy (on here somewhere) put a Chevy small block 305 in a 318ti.

The BMW M3's motor (the S52 or S50) is always a good, fast motor. It can use the same tranny, same mounts, and requires the least modification, where you'd have to custom-make engine mounts and some other stuff for the Chevy motors. BMWDrifter is Jeff, and he runs a shop in Columbia, SC. Talk to him about what he did to put the Chevy 305 in. That car is a drift monster.
