We got a code for voltage imput to high which was supposdley at 16v but the mechanic told me that could have been a jump start or something else or low battery. The wierd thing is that the codes are cleared, but the ABS light in the cluster is still on. He ran the diagnostic again and still no code but the light is still there, any suggestions? thanks guys. | | | 02-28-2009, 07:06 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: miami Posts: 232 | cmon someones gotta know... | | | 04-15-2009, 07:43 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Iowa City, IA Posts: 57 | did you ever figure this out? If only someone can point us in the right direction. Let me know if you find something that fixes it... | | | 04-15-2009, 11:51 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Farnborough, UK Posts: 64 | Measure the impedance across the bottom two pins of each sensor connector (only 2 pins per sensor on the rear). You should read around 1Kohm (between 0.9K and 1.2K is acceptable) if it's significantly different then the sensor is probably faulty. The pins are recessed quite deep into the connector so if you have trouble getting probes in use a pair of wires twisted together forming a sort of Y shape fork at the end with cores (making sure not to short them) the just crocodile clip the other ends to the ohm meter. Only takes a minute or two per wheel so worth checking just to confirm it's not the sensors. | | | 04-15-2009, 11:52 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: miami Posts: 232 | The thing is theyre is no code for abs wheels sensors... Shouldnt theyre be a code for the sensors? | | | 04-16-2009, 08:18 AM | #8 | Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Farnborough, UK Posts: 64 | I would have thought so but if there's no code for anything else either it's worth checking as a sensor is much cheaper and easier to replace than the pump or ABS ECU or anything like that. | | | 04-16-2009, 11:34 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | Have it put on a BMW tester if you havnt already. This will tell you if there is a specific problem with a sensor. Have you tested the ABS? or does the pedal/abs vibrate sometimes under function? __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! Standard obd tester cannot check these codes. Take to dealer service shop. Perhaps you have a bad wheel speed sensor that needs replaced. _______________ If you ain't first your last! If the tire sizes are significantly off, the rotating speeds will be different, causing ABS computer to think you are slipping. Also check your tire pressures. | | | 04-26-2009, 08:12 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | only if the speed of rotation is different on the same axle. if the tyre sizes are the same on the rear , then it shouldnt make that much difference __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free !
