Default I did it! Just bought a 1997 318ti!

Hey Folks,

Thanks for all your help thus far. Long story short, I just bought my new baby...

I haven't had time to take my own photos of it yet, but will update when I do.

Looks nice, so I'm pretty happy with it. New tyres, new mp3 player, mint mags, sunroof, yada yada... It's a 1997 M-Spec.

I'd really like to get some full leather front seats for it, so I'll make some enquiries when I get the time. My car has half leather.

Now I've just got to figure out how to make some cheapish improvements to the performance (without the expense of a supercharger). I'll make time eventually, and search the forums.

thanks again!

I'll be around

those half leather seats are only available on the sport models - VERY NICE SEATS ... think twice before you get rid of them

Really?

Are you saying that half-leather is somehow better than full leather?

I was thinking maybe I could get some full leather seats out of a wrecked 328 M or something like that...

Cloth grips better in the twisties and is not as cold/hot as leather. So yes, better than all leather IMO.

it depends on what all leather seats you put in. the sport seats have some features the stock full leather seats (which i have btw) do not. they have bigger bolsters (to hold you in better during cornering and such), extendable thigh support in the front and i believe an additional adjustment (some form of tilt underneath?). if you were to put in all leather m3 "vader" seats, then i believe you retain all the features of the sport seats, but as i said, if you go with stock all leather ti seats, they do not have those features. i guess you could get your sport seats redone in full leather too.

OK, I've definitly been put off the full leather seats now.
My mate is hooking me up with some leather conditioner (he's a professional car upholstery guy).
I've had a few people warn me about coolant problems too, so I'll be getting it serviced then too.
I'll be sure to ask the mechanic if he can give her some more zoooom
