Default E36 Aluminum Radiator

So I have been wanting to do a Aluminum Radiator in my car, and stumbled upon this DIY, can anyone confirm this is worth a shot?

ZeroG's install looks much cleaner. The expansion tank mount in that first link looks waay ghetto. (I especially love the comment about using OEM zip ties!).

I have this same radiator sitting in a box in my garage, but haven't gotten around to installing it yet. A while back, I picked up a solid brass overflow tank from a Range Rover in the boneyard- I think I'm going to glass bead it, polish it, and mount it somewhere on or near the fender well.

I was looking to do this a few months ago but ultimately just decided to go with a new stock radiator. Anyway, I found the thread below and also pm'd pmilli814 who is selling his 318ti race car with a alum rad on the m44.

The difficult part is the pressure tank. The 6cyl one will work. You'll just need to splice in that tank line to the engine block somehow....probably near the heater lines. Sorry if I'm vague, but I did it on a race car with no heater. So, I'm not exactly sure what you'll hook into on a street car with all the extra hoses. Also, the stock radiator fan won't fit. I have a spal fan wired in now.

So, it's completely doable, but there is a lot to change! The plus side is that the 6cyl radiators are cheap and they are way overkill for the 4cyl!

I have a fully aluminum radiator and expansion tank, all E36 M3 spec. Fitment was no major issue. However im having trouble finding a quality fan. I had a mishimot fan, it died after 1 yr and 4 mo, for $300 i expected a much longger life time. Any ideas on a good fan?

I've had a SPAL on my e36 for...7 years now I think. Hasn't failed me yet.
