It's just a 318ti sport. Since all '96 and later 318ti's with the sport package came with mtech trim, it just sounds silly/douchey to hear people call them "M sports" or "318ti M's" or "M 318ti's". FWIW, there's nothing "M" about a 318ti besides maybe a couple plastic pieces. If the VIN starts with "WBA" or anything other than "WBS", it's not an M.

Well for starters, clubsports were only available in 1995. So if your ti is '96 or newer, then you can automatically rule it out as a clubsport. Clubsports came with a very limited and standard set of options.

Aaannndd to add to a topic that has been quiet for several months... I'm pretty sure mine is a base model :P No fog lights, no ASC, no alloys, standard suspension, no LSD. It really is very basic

recently sold my -96 318Ti and got a -00 323Ti. It behaved wierd in the beginning but after changing the crankshaft sensor and air mass meter it runs perfect. Its so fun to drive its stupid, especially on gravel roads with the acs+t disabled. Also it runs _incredibly_ silent, the engine is barely audible in idle with the blower on.
I'm not really sure but I think the 323ti has the sport package (all -99 and -00 E36 323ti has the sport package I think?), with half leather sport seats, M steering wheel, acs+t etc.

I drive a ´00 323ti, Limited Sport Edition, with the //M package outside, avus-blue, Styling 42 wheels, half Alcantara sport seats.

I changed the sports-exhaust which the pre-owner fitted to a standard one. It was too loud on the Autobahn.

Cool

Our newest BMW is a 97 318Ti, our first "Ti", even though I've been wanting one for a few years. It appears to be an Active. I need to find a definitive way to ID that.

Post the last 7 numbers of your VIN in the decoding thread and I'll run the VIN report for you...

Hi Paul, You can have someone do a VIN lookup to see which options were ordered with the car. Do you have Cruise Control and remote locking/Alarm. If so, i'd guess Active but the VIN lookup would confirm.
