Default Bought mine brand new off showroom floor 9/8/98

On September 8, 1998 Mark McGuire hit his 62nd home run to break Babe Ruth's home run record. Immediately after watching that on TV, I went in to "look" at BMWs at our local dealer. There was a beautiful blue 318ti on the sales floor. The sales guy asked what it would take for me to buy one tonight and I said get the price at or near list price with no markups. He said "done". I was out of there with all papers signed in a total of 45 minutes. They opened the dealer glass doors for me and let me drive it off the showroom floor! (Riverside, CA BMW dealer). I have loved the car all these years. Same clutch for 13 years! 202,000 miles.

the manufacture date isn't always the same as the model year, any car made after September of a certain year will always be registered as the next model year

Traditionally, most auto assembly plants have a August shutdown for retooling for the next model year. So typically cars assembled in September and after are titled for the next model year.

Although that practice is not consistent as much since manufacturers seem to introduce new models at different times of the year these days.

What does your 'build date' on the inner wing (or should I say fender) sticker say?

Cool name for a color. . . 'alpineweiss' or 'alpine white' as we say in the states.
