Default dead fuse

Hey all:

I was on my way from nj to fl when my instrument cluster went dead after hitting the rumble strip on 95 (trucker pushed my off the road). Anyways now my fuel gauge, trip computer, brake lights and temp gauge is all shot. after some looking around i found fuse 46 to be blown out so i replaced it only to have it blow out five minutes later on the road. Any one have an idea as to what may be shorting out to blow that fuse. Any ideas apperciated.

Is it possible that the fuse is the wrong ampage and has been looked over before?

Default possible

it is possible the fuse is wrong. Though i drove the car for about two months prior to the short out. Its a blue (15 amp i think) fuse that was in 46.

Sounds like a short somewhere.

They can be very tricky to find at times.

The ETM shows F46 as a 15A fuse.

Default in case anyone is interested

Well the short fuse issue is corrected after 200 bucks of work. The brake switch that activates my brake lamps when stopping failed and was shorting out that leg of my electrical system. Painfull to pay for but hey least she runs fully street legal again. A note however: The tech who serviced Ava (my 318) said that this a normal happening amoung the 98 ti's so just a warning to you all with the 98's.

200$, ouch. My brake switch went out before as well (when the previous owner had it). He said it was a pita to change, but the part wasnt all that expensive. Good to hear Ava is good to go now.
