Got an invitation in the mail for the release of the new Audi A3 ... thought nothing of it until I saw one on the road ... damn ! I hate saying this, but I think I may have found my next car ... anyone else interested in this ? www.audiusa.com | | | 04-24-2005, 06:35 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | man, i would have killed to get the older 2dr version over here, especially the 1.8t with quattro. and is this stolen A3 deal legit? i know that last resort is an actual recovery service, but i can't help thinking the stolena3.com website is a marketing ploy. also, what the crap is with the old-school "wakeboard" in the A3 gallery? sandal bindings? puh-leeeze! | | | 04-24-2005, 10:29 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Toledo, Ohio Posts: 72 | I had no idea they had that site up ... genious marketing ploy if you ask me ... I love this car. But I just don't know whether it's worth the price ... $30K nicely equipped ... I think I'm gonna wait till the 6 cylinder is released next year ... but you have to say, maybe this will motivate BMW to release the ti again in the states ... | | | 04-25-2005, 01:44 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | yeah, i saw the price and bugged out. 30K can get me a very nice used E36 M3. hell, i'd just save up the extra 10k and get the lotus elise. however, i'll probably take it for a test drive and get the itunes thing. | | | 04-25-2005, 06:52 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | saw one on the road yesterday and loved the rear end, like the side, then WHAM you see that big ol grill in front that looks like they forgot the bumper and slapped a license plate right in the middle with sheet metal screws. It's like they forgot about american states that require front license plates and how that integrates into the design. I bet that front end will be redesigned in 2 years given it's similarity to the less costly and better looking VW front ends. I'll wait but the rest looks great! __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 04-25-2005, 08:06 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | if BMW couners it will probably be with the 1 series (not that I would mind at all ). | | | 04-25-2005, 08:48 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: SoCal Posts: 144 | Quote: Originally Posted by aceyx man, i would have killed to get the older 2dr version over here, especially the 1.8t with quattro.

Maybe if they imported the two door.4 door Looks a little station-wagonish to me.........It would be great if BMW released the new Ti's over here.....wishful thinking though... | | | 04-27-2005, 10:08 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | okay, so i've just gotten back from a test drive in a base model, and while i was impressed with it, i wasn't $30k worth of impressed. good build quality, very nice handling (torque steer was negligible), and a very capable motor, but it just wasn't fun i guess? and the light clutch feel totally pissed me off. | | | 04-27-2005, 11:31 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: North Saint Paul, MN Posts: 606 | aceyx, is the base model actually 30K???? they look good but not worth 30k for a low end. Used e36 m3 is a much better option, well i guess any bmw is better option! __________________ '96 Alaska Blue ti w/ Supersprint cat-back exhaust...Dinan CAI & Chip...Eibach Pro-Kit Springs...Bilstein Sport shocks...BavAuto camber kit...Brembo d/s rotors...UUC SSK...Centerforce Dual Friction clutch...TMS 9lb flywheel...18 inch OZ Rims...Carbon-Fiber dash/gauge bezel...Momo Shift Knob...Indiglo gauges...Schroth Harness...ZKW's/ProLumen 6k HID...Predator Chromiums http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...urowerksig.jpg | | | 04-28-2005, 12:03 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | ack, sorry, they're 30k loaded, base at 25k. i just figured the quattro version would be around 30k with comparable options. like, you have to pay for heated sideview mirrors (!) | | | 05-04-2005, 03:32 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: tailgating your slow ass Posts: 518 | audi a3 i think that it is a nice car but i would rather have a e36 m3 or evan if i was to go with a vw r32 would be about the same price. | | | 05-04-2005, 08:29 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Marin County & Santa Cruz Posts: 116 | For my next car I am excitedly awaiting Afla Romeo's return to the states. Hopefully by that time the Brera will be in production.
