Default M-Technic Trim

I've replaced my front and rear bumper with the M-Technic bumpers, I'm wondering whether I can get the side trim replaced ... I've got a '96 ti and I've noticed that the later models have different trim, similar to the trim on the front and rear bumper ...

Take a look at my gallery to see what I mean, sorry if I sound confusing, but I'm thinking there has to be something I can do about this ...

The 95 Club Sport and all +96 Sports had the ///M on the side.
You can replace the narrow rubber trim with the wider version.
Instead of the ///M you might still be able to find Motorsport International, Club Sport or M Technic.

So they fit .. ok ... so now I've got a chance to get mouldings from a 98 M3 ... should I be worried about the fit ? He's got all the clips and is asking $80. I'm thinking I should take it, but I just want to be sure that they'll fit. I hear that the removal of the old ones is very complex ... I guess it consists of just tearing the damn things off .... if you guys think I shouldn't have a problem with the fit, maybe you know of a better method of removal ?

Won't these wider mouldings be rubbing against the paint ? Maybe I'm too paranoid, I dunno ...

NO NO NO NO .Don't part with any money yet.

The wide strips are MTEC Bits which can be sourced from the dealer or other possible outlets, What is different is that the

Compact front wings are SALOON
Compact doors are SALOON
Compact REAR BITS are UNIQUE

So Coupe bits WONT FIT regardless if it's an M. Saloon bits will, well the door and front wing anyways. You'll still need the back bits.

You'll probably need different mounting plugs, again from dealer.

Rubbing paint? nah no problem

Here's mine and the wifes 318ti s. SPORT at the rear non sport at front, noticce the wide strips and rear bumper

You're right ... I was able to find the kit for the 318ti on Bavarian Auto ... there is a definite difference in the size ... the part # for the 318ti is 51 13 2 267 003, in case anyone is interested. It goes for $ 185 ... to steep at the moment for me, but maybe in a couple of months. I'm gonna check with Pacific BMW. I'm hoping this is the smooth moulding. The M-Technic front bumper I got had smooth moulding strips, but the M-Technic rear bumper doesn't. I'm gonna see if I can get my hands on the smooth rear bumper strips this week.

I doubt it. I believe the door is unique to the ti.

I looked up the part numbers...correct me if I'm wrong...but the moulding I found for the ti (M tech, BMW part #) is:

51134450071 &
" 72 - the front fender behind the wheel

51132266093 &
" 94 - door trim

51132264513 &
" 14 - rear fender between the door and rear wheels.

Those should be the correct part numbers. Find out if you can order them. Lol, anyone wanna do a group buy for trim? (=

I was thinking the same thing ... a group buy would be perfect !!!

If I've got time I'm gonna check the prices for these ...

I'm not sure what kind of parts are doable for a group buy ... but I'd love a group buy on some M3 mirrors too ... I can't differentiate the good from the bad ...

are you sure? the door is a sloon is it not. I think you can buy the bits individually on seperate part nos or a single complete retro fit kit on a one for all part no

Those diagrams are off the BMW parts CD so yes they ARE OEM.

You can use the website I linked to for the images to look for other OEM goodies such as....well have a nosey, it shows ALL BMs.

Click the titles at the top left when you're on the parts page to have a wander

Actually those parts are OE. OEM just refers to the manufacturer. OE are spec'd out for the car by the manufacturer.

Still not sure if the ti door is specific to the ti.
You can compare part numbers 318ti - M3 2-door - M3 4-door
