The previous owner (female) keep the interior and exterior in excellent shape. When I pop the hood, it looks like the car when through the dirtiest dust storm ever. Everything under the hood is covered with a dirt film. What is the safest and best way to clean the engine compartment? Is it harmful to any components to steam clean under the hood? Thanks Eric __________________ 1998 (July) 318ti, 5-spd OEM Armrest Blaupunkt Heidelberg CD50 CD Player/Compact Drive MP3 Player Diamond Audio 5.25" rear speakers Navman ICN 530 GPS BMWALARM.COM (with comfort settings) after market alarm system Magnecor 8.5mm wires M-Z3 Shifter/Momo Knob Burlwood Dashboard Stromung Exhaust X-brace Racing Dynamics Front Strut Bar Carbonio C.A.I. 17" Rial Rims Vader Seats/Heated/Lumbar Support M-tech Steering Wheel/Front Sway Bar/Front & Rear Bumper Depos/w 6500K Angel Eyes/6000K HIDs Clear Corners M3 Mirrors UUC Light Weight Flywheel/M5 Clutch/M3 Clutch Slave E28 3.46 LSD/Mcoupe Cover/E30 Flanges & Halfshafts UUC S.S. Use a degreaser and soft water pressure. there are a lot of plastic parts a pressure washer can break. | | | 10-04-2004, 12:14 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 10-04-2004, 08:31 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Toledo, Ohio Posts: 72 | Are there any parts under the hood that can't get wet ? I mean, can you just go to work in there with no worries ? I've got an air compressor I wanted to use under the hood, thought I'd try to blow everything off with air and the use the hose to lightly spray it down. Anything I should worry about ? | | | 10-04-2004, 03:22 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Charlotte, NC Posts: 120 | try avoiding the intake, you dont want to suck water into your motor | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | 15mm pad install problem | hotdog19d | Suspension | 11 | 04-29-2005 04:42 AM | |
