I go ta jump and now I have PPP on my trip computer. I was also having some problems with my drivers side low bean, although I think it was unrelated. How ccan I fix? I googled and found that i need to reste the clock? On another note it seems that my power assist breaks are not working as they should, although this may be due to the fact that i was driving a brand new rental car for the past two weeks. Thanks in advance.. -Harri | | | 02-26-2011, 05:29 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Since you didn't post what type of ODC you have you need to look up which On board computer you have and how to set the date and time 12/24 format on it and C/F for the temp. It is a certain button function to set them. Then it should look normal again. You just drained the battery and the OBC lost it's memory. | | | 02-26-2011, 07:22 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Bremerhaven, Germany Posts: 977 | I thought there was just one OBC for the Compact and another for all the other E36s. PPPP usually means an OBC or cluster is either "uncoded" or has lost its internal coding that tailor it to its host car. (The coding data is kept in EEPROM). I wonder if the car suffered an electrical surge during the jump start. In what way or ways are your brakes not working like they should? | | | 02-26-2011, 10:12 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by John Firestone I thought there was just one OBC for the Compact and another for all the other E36s. | there's the computer and there's just a plain clock, you can tell them apart because the buttons on the clock just read "H" and "M" | | | 02-27-2011, 01:21 AM | #5 | Z3 Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Usa Posts: 660 | It needs to be reprogrammed via the OBD II Tool. Anyone have any documentation on how to reprogram? Or is this going to have to go to the dealer? Is there a tool that i can get somewhere like pelican parts or something? I guess it is called a multi-function display. The brakes seem to be working fine now. | | | 02-27-2011, 11:27 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Rio de Janeiro - Brasil Posts: 133 | Quote: Originally Posted by Bozola It needs to be reprogrammed via the OBD II Tool. ReamOem also says " "Important: on-board computer must be coded within 36 hours of installation" http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...94&hg=62&fg=05 What happens if you don't get it coded within 26 hrs? Do I need to get me recoded? reset? Would removing the battery have any affect on the battery? | | | 03-05-2011, 04:04 AM | #10 | Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: NOR CAL Posts: 51 | i took the unit out for 24 hrs and tried again. now the ppp will not go away. what do you guys think? new unit and deal program? or just a dealer program? thanks -h | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
