I need some advice on what could be a life changing decision. Thanks in advance guys.
I've suspected for some time now that my girlfriend has been having an affair. The usual signs. Phone rings, I answer, someone hangs up. She started going out 'with the girls' a lot recently although when I ask which girls it is always "Just some friends from work, you don't know them". I always look out for her taxi coming home but she always walks down the drive although I can hear a car setting off. As if she has got out of the car round the corner. Why? Is it not a taxi? I once picked her mobile up just to see what time it was and she went beserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.
Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my g/f. I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth but last night she went out again and I decided to check on her. I decided I was going to hide behind my car which would give me a view of the whole street so I could see which car she gets out of. It was whilst crouched behind my car that I noticed rust around my rear wheel arch.
Should I take it into a body repair shop or should I buy some stuff from the local auto shop and try to repair it myself? __________________

If you she says no, you have a very valid reason to dump her.  Don't feel bad, my car had rust on it when I bought it, luckily I was working at a body shop at the time. Take care of it before it gets bad. __________________

stole it from sxoc  but i do have a little rust that i will need to address this year. probably stick it in the shop when i go away. that way i can have the m3 front bumper (still to buy) fitted and sprayed too. debating having my wheels powdered in black now too seeing as they have sustained hefty kerb damage  P.S. I live at home, not with the gf! otherwise i'd probably be penniless knowing modern day women  __________________

Your second problem is letting your girlfriend live with you.
Kick her out, get a smaller place with a garage and a brass pole installed in the living room. Always keep an ample amount of liquor on hand. Both problems will be neatly resolved. __________________

I wouldn't really trust myself and I know that a pro should be able to fix it alot better...

That gag provides the perfect juxtaposition to truly capture how deeply an enthusiast feels about rust on their car. There is nothing more vexing or which takes a higher priority.
I recently did my own rust repair by thouroughly sanding off the rust spot on the drivers rear panel near the wheel well. I then applied a rust stop primer and a couple coats of factory matched paint from a spray can. Just on the area around the spot mind you. It looks like crap. I would vastly prefer a professional repair - which will eventually happen. However, it is like a scar from removing a tumor. I would prefer not to have the scar, but at least I would know the tumor is gone. I can at least feel somewhat comfortable for the moment that the rust is abated for the time being and that it will not get worse until I can have a pro repaint the whole car.
By the way, my repair cost me about $30 and about one hour of my time spread over two evenings to make. Not a bad patch to stave off a $3k paint job for a while. | | | | |
