I am at around 26mpg w/ 87 Octane gas. This is combined highway and city driving. What are you averaging? | | | 03-15-2008, 07:30 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Waco/Austin, TX Posts: 233 | Usually 29 average city/highway running premium fuel. When i bought the car and drove it solely highway miles for a whole tank bringing it home i got 35 or 36. That was a happy day. Edit: I'm a 97 with 135k on the odo __________________ 1997 318ti Schwarz II FB | | | 03-15-2008, 07:58 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: MI Posts: 204 | 35-37 w/ 87 octane 98 Civic lx @ 81,000 Miles This will be long gone when I make the switch but I'm willing to take the hit to get into a ti. | | | 03-15-2008, 01:20 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | all around driving nets me 29-32mpg __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 03-15-2008, 02:03 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Fort Collins, CO Posts: 1,305 | my average was always bad cause I shift late...just can't help it | | | 03-15-2008, 02:36 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: Omaha, NE Posts: 737 | Only put 55 miles on my car since I picked it up yesterday, so I can't say. In my Mirage the worst I saw was 27, best was 35. Usually averaged around 30 - 32. In my Cavalier I got 20-23 in the city, 26-27 on the highway (it was a 3-speed slushbox). Worst I ever saw with the Cavalier was 16 I think. Recently replaced the thermostat which was stuck open so I'm hoping these numbers will increase through time. __________________ 2005 Steel Blue 325ia: Upgrades/Mods: Lots. 1996 Alpine White: 318ti: Dinan Stage 1 Software. How any of you get more than 30 mpg is beyond me. 32 mpg on a fluke may be believable, but there's no way 36 mpg is possible unless you are drafting a semi. __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | 04-12-2008, 08:05 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: Omaha, NE Posts: 737 | Quote: Originally Posted by clex2 How any of you get more than 30 mpg is beyond me. 32 mpg on a fluke may be believable, but there's no way 36 mpg is possible unless you are drafting a semi. | It's possible. I see you're using the new EPA numbers, which are a notch or two below the old ones. Just looked at the new numbers for my old Mirage, and they say 23/30. I routinely saw 28+ mpg in the city and 33-35mpg on the highway. Easily a good 30-31 combined, which is above the EPAs combined estimate of 25. It all depends on how you drive. Granny shift (I was upshifting in the 2000-2500 rpm range in the Mirage) and you can get pretty good mileage, which is nice with gas prices the way they are right now. I took a picture of it, but it is on my phone and I have yet to learn how to get it off of the phone (first phone I ever had with a camera) | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
