I'm looking to replace the bushings with urethane ones and want to make sure the sizes are right. Also I have read that the swaybar brackets on E36 are wearable items, is this true? If so I'll end up doing them at the same time. | | | 12-12-2012, 03:37 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2011 Location: Lighthouse Point, FL Posts: 124 | Here you go... Stock is 25mm front, M front is 26mm. Rear stock is 14mm, M rear is 16mm. I replaced the brackets when I changed the bars and bushings. Cheap insurance for the long haul. | | | 12-12-2012, 05:27 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Quote: Originally Posted by campione I replaced the brackets when I changed the bars and bushings. Cheap insurance for the long haul. | Seriously. I think you can get everything (including nuts and bolts) for about $10 from Tischer. It's a good idea to replace end links (a little more expensive) as well, if they've never been replaced. | | | 12-12-2012, 06:07 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | It is not the bushing brackets and link mount brackets that are the weak point... it's what they bolt to, especially in the rear. A very thin piece of metal on the trailing arms and even thinner sheet metal on the body. That said, with stock sway bars I would not worry about reinforcement plates, even with urethane bushings. Clean the brackets, replace the links and go. __________________ SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE! I've replaced one of the endlinks because the boot was cracked already, the others felt and looked ok. Doing the urethane bushings and Trans mount bushings hopefully this weekend. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
