Default Cali-top in Seattle area

Looks like I'm not the only one crazy enough to own a California top in the Seattle area.

This is the first I've seen for sale in this area in around 2 years of looking.

That's pretty crazy, all right! Confession: I envy cali top owners. I've never been able to get up the nerve to buy one. Cheers, John

Saw that one posted when I bought mine listed in the Roseburg Oregon area Craigslist a few weeks ago. 47 miles into the woody wilderness toward Crater lake. Being in the Salem area for summer, I'll be moving the car to SoCal for winter use. Somehow it just seems a bit more appropriate down there! (though that black interior? YIKES! barbequed leg bits)

John, They are cool if you like to run around topless. Be prepared to have a spare top and motor or gears. Look for a 98 or 99 or one that has been refit with the wind defector kit.

Isn't real hot where you live? Would you normally have the top open?

That's kinda what I thought. But there is just something way cool about a car with a canvas top. As a matter of fact it gets hot here in north Texas in the summers...lots of 100 degree plus days. I love to open the sun roof and roll all the windows down in the spring and the fall. For short trips in town I never bother to turn the ac on. I like an open car with lots of air flowing through it. Cheers, John

It's the civilized version of the '61 moonroof bug I pumped up for my gal - lots of goood times in that bug with it's 1776 engine and dual DelOrto carbs on top of big valve dual port heads..

Fun fact -

in Germany we have to register these cars as Convertibles because the roof can be easily cut open and the car be stolen, so we have to register the Cali roof - cars as Convertibles here which is more expensive than "closed" cars.

Hey Kitty! Ya, same reason I keep a spare working top as I pictured that happening and being stuck with a ripped top at the least.
