What were the stock values? What were the stock values? | I think Chad's numbers might be off a bit. It looks like Chad's dyno runs were done for tuning purposes, not for max power output. I believe dyno's are setup differently when going for max hp readings, that's what I was told. Chad's dyno chart does a great job of illustrated the hp and torque curve that you can expect from a DASC. Very torquey low end then a small dip in power with a jittery increase in power. (I believe www.techniquetuning.com has smoothed out the curve a bit). Chad, were your runs done at WOT, or at partial throttle? Are you using your intercooler? __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 05-25-2005, 04:26 PM | #4 | doesn't care about you. Maybe I'm not getting it. What I want is increased torque off the line. I don't care about top end or how much power I get at 4500rpm. For me, the thrill is from 0-60 issues. Wouldn't a lightweight flywheel and higher ratio LSD give me more increase in torque and initial acceleration? I haven't run with the 5 speed yet, but it should quite a bit faster. I am happy with the results, I think I got over $3k worth of pleasure from it. The only guy in town with a dyno charges $250 for a run, so you won't be seeing my dyno chart! Does anyone else have a dyno chart with a DASC? __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 05-25-2005, 06:57 PM | #8 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 05-25-2005, 07:03 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: madison, WI Posts: 402 | the DASC doesnt add a lot of power, but more importantly it spreads it out all over the powerband. so you pretty much have full power from 2k to redline. Plus once you go boosted adding more power is a piece of cake. __________________ Mods: clear turn signals, Silverstar headlight bulbs, k&N custom CAI, removed A/C, lightened crank pulley, painted brakes, custom clutch stop, custom strut bar, x-brace, custom solid tranny mounts, Memphis sound system, Sachs sport clutch, B&M short shifter, lightened flywheel, redline MTL .... Wow... I leave for a second an hell breaks lose. OK, here the answers to some questions. My runs were made in third gear pulls at WOT with the ambient temperture at about 88 Degrees. So the temps could have resulted in lower numbers. The car that was runs was my TI that has a DASC kit in completely stock form RRFPR and all. You can compare my run to one that Nick G has on his site to see a good comparison. http://www.techniquetuning.com/image...-m44stage1.jpg My numbers were a little less then his were. I am still unsure of the exact stock numbers and I will post the chart tonight. I was just guessing hence the (???). With the DASC the first time you take the car out you will feel the increased low end torque before you even put your foot in it. Just driving around town the car picks up and goes a hell of a lot faster. If you change the diff you will get S/C like performance especially from a (4.44), you just will not be able to go fast then 90 MPH which in the end could slow down you 1/4 miles time. With the DASC you get the same type of acceleration and can go still take it to the limiter. I spent 3K for 40 RWHP The thing is that it is power to the wheels. Now you have to think about it that it does put you in the negihborhood of 200 HP at the crank if you don't have a drivetrain loss. A stock DASC will never have 200 RWHP, I don't care what anyone says. The DA site has a correct chart of HP measured at the crank I believe. I assure you that the kit is worth the $$$ Hope that helps. | | | 05-25-2005, 07:40 PM | #13 | doesn't care about you. Not the actually hp but RWHP. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 05-25-2005, 08:26 PM | #15 | doesn't care about you.
