Exclamation Door wont open help please!!!

Went to exit my 1996 318ti and the door wouldn't open! Rolled the window down and the outside handle wouldn't work either. I have managed to get the door panel off (very difficult with the door closed!) but I can't feel my way around well enough to make any progress.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Does anyone have any ideas what can be done?

Door locks function properly but the handles don't appear to be releasing the latch. Feels like they aren't connected to anything. pulling the bar between the handle and latch has the same result.

you've probably tried this already, but try pul/pushing on Rod #6 if you can reach it.

Unbolt/remove front drivers seat if you need more access.

Here's a link that I had saved when I had to replace the door lock actuator...

I assume you tried this by now, but just in case you haven't...

Did you unlock the door from the outside with the key? I remember from my owner's manual that it warned if the doors are locked from the outside with the key, the car cannot be opened from the inside.

If you did try (and fail), be sure the battery is fully charged (or put it on a charger) and try locking/unlocking from outside. The double lock is tenacious and quite possibly gummed up after so many years.

Good luck! We'll slip you some food through the window.

Reminds me of the blonde that locked herself in her car with the top down and it was raining...
