Default Dumb brake change question

I'll preface this by saying it has been YEARS since I've changed brakes on a car myself. So forgive me for this next question.

I am replacing the rotors and pads on the front of the ti. I have the driver's side completed, but I ran into two issues. One of which I have resolved, the other, not so resolved yet.

When I first mounted the new rotor (ate powerslot) and put everything back together with the new pads (EBC Greenstuff) the rotor apparently wasn't seated perfectly on the hub, because it would drag at one point when I spun the rotor.

I dissassembled the entire thing, and used some scotch brite on the rotor seat and reassembled, the rotor seems to run true now.

When I reassembled the caliper with pads to the caliper bracket, I now have a situation where there is slight drag all the way around the rotor.

Do I need to remove the caliper again, remove the pads, compress the caliper piston more to create more space, and reassemble, or will it adjust itself after a few moments driving? I obviously don't want to drive very far with a dragging disk, as the rotor will warp, etc.

Also, I am planning on doing a full fluid change, but I'm hoping I can do the rotor/pad work first and get the fluid change done in a week or so after the pressure bleeder comes in. Is that okay, or am I risking something by doing that?

Like I said, it's been a while. BMW free maintenance has made me forget some of my basic car maintenance!

Did you compress the piston all the way in before replacing the rotor?
Or was the rotor touching the carrier bracket?
I have never had a rotor touch.

Before you move your car, PUMP THE BRAKES to ensure the the pads are up against the rotors or you will be in for a big surprise.

The rotor is just slightly dragging on the pads. I did compress the piston enough to get the caliper and pad assembly back on - I'm assuming I compressed it all the way, but it may have had some small amount of travel left.

I did start the car and pump the brakes a couple times (now remember, the other side is still on the worn pads) and the side with the new pads locked up, completely. I couldn't move it at all.

After a few minutes (or an hour, I was watching '24') it released a bit.

thanks for the reply!

My favorite show. A bit unbelievable at times (like, they are never stuck in traffic, ever, or ever eat, apparently) but still really fun.

I'm wondering what they can do to top this year, though.

Just curious after putting it all together if you drove it and then it rubbed. Once you pump the brakes and the car doesn't move it will stay locked and not return. Change the other side and take it for a small spin and then see if it still rubs.

Also remeber to grease up those slide bolts a little. I just did the rotors on mine tuesday.
