Excellent!

I'm also glad that you got a second opinion on the motor, and it seems like you found a shop that cares more about what's right vs. what's profitable. Hope everything works out in the long run!

Default The Sad tale of a 1995 BMW 318Ti "Club Sport ULTRA RARE AND CLEAN"

What Ed and James said. if you want, we can set up a time to go over what you need to do for both the coolant pipe and the oil filter housing gasket. Not a difficult job at all. Both DIYs are in the DIY section.

The pipe we are referring to on the M42 gets brittle over time and can break. Unless you know it has been replaced in the last few years, it is preventative maintenance to replace it, rather than it break on you and you'll end up with a bigger issue.

Hate to beat the deceased equestrian, but what all dem guyz said!

The shop might be able to do it easy if they took the intake manifold off for inspection of the motor.

Once that cooling system is solid you can rev to your hearts content!

I'm really glad too. The second opinion here made all the difference. Gotta thank Bradestar as he reached out to me via PM and suggested the shop I went to for the second opinion.

BlackBMWs can you direct me to the DIY thread for the coolant pipe and oil filter?
(is this it: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18066)

I also need to replace this piece (cosmetic damage stuff) http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/7067...TagaAhaU8P8HAQ

Wondering if there is a DIY thread on that job?

Yes for the cooling system DIY. I'll look for the oil filter housing gasket and bushing replacement when I go home.

That DIY's for an M44 car. An M42 has a few different hoses, and (fortunately) not
the nipple on the back of the block.

One thing I have added to the M42's that seem to follow me home- a coolant level
sensor. There's a fitting for it on the bottom of the reservoir tank, and a sensor from
an M52 car fits (I remember, but don't swear). The switch is closed when there is coolant
in the reservoir, so you have to use a relay or use it to ground out an LED current- limiting
resistor, but the circuit's really easy.

The results are darned near priceless- if the coolant dumps, the light comes on before
you do damage.
The gauge is no help in this circumstance.

Appreciate all the feedback here!

Anyone have some insights on replacing this part? ( http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/7067...TagaAhaU8P8HAQ )

Are you asking the about the nose panel?

Very easy to replace. A few bolts behind the fender splash guards and a few under the hood

I have a 97 and up facelift painted black to match your car if you are interested

Hey Guys,

I'm back in business over here!

After receiving the car back in August, I had an alignment done, bought a square set of 17" contours, and bought an M3 steering wheel.

In early September, I brought the car to Fine Tuning in Shoreline to have new brake pads put on the car, the steering wheel swapped, and new high temp brake fluid put in. I also noticed that the exhaust was very smokey and smelled like coolant. After a week in the shop, the guys told me that the motor head was junk. Apparently the head work that was done on 11/2013...did not hold up...? See this thread (http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...995+club+sport).

So what's the point? Well I the guys got a used head off a 98 M44 for me, and did a bunch of other maintenance as well. The point is, now the car is finally running well again! WOOHOO!

Here is what the work order looked like:

replace bulbs in brake light
install jack pads that were missing
replace and install new exhaust hanger
replace rubber stand off on exhaust bracket (both of them)
replace breather valve
Replace old head with used cylinder head
head bolt set
head gasket set
Kendall GT-1 oil 5.0
oil filter, 318ti
G11 Coolant 3.0
replace VCG
cooling hose connector
breather hose
twin connection switch
cooling hose connector
thermostat assy
air mass meter boot
Brake pads
Brake Fluid
Install steering wheel
Clean oil on bottom of trans
clean hpps hose and reservoir
new silblade wipers installed (3)

LOTS OF STUFF DONE! Will post some pictures soon.
Next step for me is to use a headlight kit on the plastic headlights. Clean the interior, and then save up for suspension parts. Does any one have some good tips for cleaning the millipoint seats? I was going to just use a brush with warm water some laundry detergent powder and some liquid dish soap (read an article online about doing that). Any specific recommendations for the seats?

So… This car is in my garage now, the sad tale continues.

Just when it got sorted out and repaired too. It’s a bit of a long story, but it When 95Clubsportti sold it the rig actually ended up in my neighborhood. Small world. A new bar opened up around there and I paid a visit. Whilst sitting out on the deck I noticed this car across the way at a house and presumed it was a Clubsport because of the trim. I suspected this one because of the wheels.

Then, 2 months go by and I was riding my motorcycle around the neighborhood and noticed that the thing had gotten damaged. Left a note on the windshield, blah, blah….here it is!

There is obvious rear frame damage. It drove great the mile home. The rear end drivetrain/suspension isn’t impacted by the hit, but it was a hard one.

I think a part out unfortunately. Another Clubsport off the road. This one was in good shape too unfortunately, a California car.

This is really too bad. Does this car have a sunroof?

I want to say that someday this car will be worth saving.
