It started with a boarderline bad idea and just kept getting worse and worse. White Wheels- Could look ok but Ive only seen them on really riced out hondas. I would only paint the centers white and then only do that if you are getting a second set of rims. Shaved door handles- Dont really look all that great and if you do it you wont be able to take it to the track and Im not sure about auto-x. Probably not worth the hastle. There are better things to spend the money on. If this were lowrider or hotrod it would be a yes though, thats where those kind of things belong. Lambo doors- No. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 06-21-2007, 07:03 PM | #17 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by SDKmann White Wheels- Could look ok but Ive only seen them on really riced out hondas. Sparco and OZ Racing are a couple of the bigger names and commonly come in white. I've even seen BBS wheels in white, but they might have been custom. Anyway, I think white looks awesome. I'm sooo sick of seeing people paint their wheels black. I mean it was cool a couple of years ago, but living here in California, the ricer capitol of the world, it seems like everyone and their mother is running black wheels with polished lips. You mostly see them on Scions and Hondas, but more and more bimmers are going black. It's just getting a little played out IMO, but I guess it's better than chrome. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 06-21-2007, 07:42 PM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Portland Oregon Posts: 1,363 | IDEA I should but it off tell I get some ds1 wheels, brembo brake pads, then bake them all white, YA. | | | 06-21-2007, 08:04 PM | #19 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | or you could get some gold daytons, J/K __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 06-21-2007, 08:09 PM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Portland Oregon Posts: 1,363 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 or you could get some gold daytons, J/K | I did not know I would be restricted from going on the track without doorhandles...then again I know nothing of that area. IDK about gold...thats like a Subaru thing. I like the idea of white on white and with some black...no chrome. | | | 06-23-2007, 07:57 PM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Lake Stevens, WA Posts: 119 | I like the all white wheels and would recommend Dupicolor Wheel Coating paint, it's holding up pretty well on mine and only $7/can. __________________ Pete N | | | 06-26-2007, 06:07 AM | #22 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Portland Oregon Posts: 1,363 | I think Iwill try that out! | | | 06-26-2007, 01:25 PM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: dorchester Posts: 700 | Looks good...would def look better if they were a few sizes bigger as mentioned but looks good either way | | | 06-26-2007, 06:38 PM | #24 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: G-dale, California Posts: 1,698 | Quote: Originally Posted by PeteN95 I like the all white wheels and would recommend Dupicolor Wheel Coating paint, it's holding up pretty well on mine and only $7/can. | how hard is it with the can? how long does it last and can it be removed?? __________________ Live Everyday As If Its Your Last A friend is someone who is willing to step into a flame to save you........aka a 318ti | | | 06-26-2007, 09:37 PM | #25 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Lake Stevens, WA Posts: 119 | It is pretty easy using the old rattle can. I sanded down the chips and scuffed the old paint with Scotchbrite, then wiped them down and sprayed away. I've only had them painted for a couple months, but so far so good. I'm sure a sandblaster will take it right off, just like the factory paint. __________________ Pete N | | | 06-27-2007, 01:47 AM | #26 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: G-dale, California Posts: 1,698 | Quote: Originally Posted by PeteN95 It is pretty easy using the old rattle can. It's powdercoated or something. I refinished my wheels a while ago and nothing worked at removing the old paint. I tried paint stripper(aircraft remover) and I even tried sandblasting them. Eventually I just sandblasted them, smoothed out the remaining paint by hand and primered them. Then I sprayed a whole can of metalic silver paint on each wheel(a bunch of light coats) and then a can of clear per two wheels(a bunch of light coats followed by a heavy final coat). They turned out pretty good. A few small imperfections, but wheels get jacked up anyway. I left the lips bare and polished them, but since I didn't clear coat the lips, I have to polish them every time I wash the car. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 06-27-2007, 02:49 AM | #28 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: G-dale, California Posts: 1,698 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 Dude the original paint is almost impossible to remove. I have thought of changing mine to white also. Perhaps with powder coating the existing coating needs to be bead blasted off. My 17s have a powder coating like coating, my 15s (same as yours) have a much thinner coating, if any. | | | 06-27-2007, 05:16 AM | #30 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Lake Stevens, WA Posts: 119 | I simply painted over mine, but you asked how you would get it off. To get rims powdercoated, they must be sandblasted first. There are places that will do it for you, but with the blasting and the powdercoat, it is very expensive, well more than I payed for the rims, anyway. I don't mind touching up the wheels once in a while. __________________ Pete N | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
