Default Hello from the UK!

Hi guys, new member here.

My name is Nick, coming all the way across the pond here in Liverpool, UK. Happy to get to know you all and see your awesome photos of this massively underrated car.

Here's mine, she's not a Ti but is the later 1.9 model released at the end of the production run in 2000 as it was replaced by the E46 Compact in 2001. I've had this car since last year and it's my 2nd E36 Compact, the first being a standard 1.6.

As you can see, she is a CaliTop, which is extremely rare in the UK. BMW released the roof as standard on a very limited run of 100 cars back in 1996 in black with a cream interior, however my car is an ex-demo with the roof fitted as an optional extra, making it in some ways even rarer than the limited OpenAir run in 1996.

The car is finished in stunning Turquoise Metallic.

Other extras include:

Clear indicator pack
Rear headrests
M-Tech Spoiler
Mudflaps
Front Foglights
Traction Control
Passenger Airbag
Air Conditioning
TR2 Alloy Wheels
Body coloured door sills

The car had been a dealer demo to try and shift more folding roofs however, not alot of people could part with the £2000 extra to have it fitted so they hardly sold any and this car was eventually purchased and serviced at the same dealer up to 100,000 miles at which point it was passed down through the family until I purchased it last year at 170,000 miles. The service history is extensive and the odo currently sits at 185,000 miles and it's running like a car with half that mileage.

I use it as a daily and it has never let me down and is always a talking point at the shows as it's such a rare combo to see. She's not perfect and I plan to keep on top of any rust that gets out of control. My aim is to keep it all stock and maintain the mechanicals and it should go on for a long time.

Not bad for just £500!

Take a look at the pictures, and if you have Instagram, you can follow me at my username.

Cheers!

Nick
