Default Help please, lamp behind lighting switch

A simple one I think - but how do I "pull the bulb" (item 7 in http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...61&fg=35&hl=14) that should light up the lighting switch ?

I've tried everything including brute force (broke the bulb) but still I can't "pull" it. Is this a wired-in bulb (doesn't look like it from the drawing) or one that SHOULD pull ? I don't want to apply too much pressure to the remains in case I break something else.

If I need to take it apart to get at it - how easy is it to get the instrument cluster surround out ? Looks like 4 screws but I bet it isn't that simple ! Do I need to take the cluster out first (and the steering wheel and the air bag etc)

Thanks all - should be real easy but it isn't !
