ah, okay i get it. die cut is predetermined shapes and vinyl cut is just the lettering. i've never heard it used like that, we just say "square" or "circle" ;}

vinyl cut can be made in 3, 5 and 7 year quality stuff. it doesn't fade, but if your state salts roads it can get pretty brittle. just don't scrape over it or put it where the wiper hits and you're fine.

it seems my route is too expensive anyway.

i'm confused how people are differentiating vinyl cut and die cut though. it's pretty much the same thing, and there's no background to them at all.
Are you a graphic Designer?

Just curious because I am.

Maybe the decals can be sold at a little profit to pay for hosting of 318ti.org?
Currently it is $25/month to host the site and it will go up as we get more active.
That does not include licensing fees.

And thank you to those who have offered hosting.
I'm quite happy with who I am using now.

If you're ever looking to find another host, try www.siteground.com

Their plans start from $4 a month with 1GB storage and 10GB data transfer. Doubling the storage or data transfer is only an extra $2 a month.

I'm currently moving a forum over there and their support is excellent

EDIT: They've just recently doubled the transfer rate to 20GB for the $4 a month plan

Another thing you might consider, that i have seen on other sites, is a link to tirerack.com and when people buy through the link, a percentage of their purchase goes to whoever linked them.

I don't think those click through things work. I had an Amazon link and even though people clicked on it, no one bought anything. But maybe it is worth a shot just to have on the home page and that way people can support the site if they make a purchase.

I like the sticker idea, easy way to support the site. Maybe even just a plain "donate" link would provide some support.

btw I just randomly noticed that Steve has 666 posts

I had to look up when I first registered 318ti.org. The date was 9/11 1999.
667 posts now.

I'm going to look into affiliate programs.
The more I search the more programs I am finding.
vBulletin and Photo Gallery have licensing fees.
It doesn't take much money to keep the site running.
I've been doing it for 4 years already.

You can make some money through affiliate marketing, it's a fairly mature market and at this point it's pretty easy to set up and choose what advertisers you want to place on this site. The amount of traffic this site gets will help you determine whether a CPM, CPA, or CPC campaign will work best for you, and there are TONS of advertisers out there so I'm sure you could find something relevant to the site. I've noticed your google ads sometimes appear to be a bit off (like ads for vbulletin software), but I bet you could work a tasteful banner or two into this site
