I found this t3 style turbo and the specs seem inspressive as well as the internal waste guage. What do you guys think about it? RIght now this is mearly searching for parts and pricing out but hopefully it will be done before the summer is over if i can gather up the cash. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-TU...spagenameZWDVW __________________ --Kenny-- Myspace Speed costs money, I work with what I got | | | 07-09-2008, 08:49 AM | #2 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Getting my popcorn ready. That looks like quality merchandise, but there is always negative speculation on inexpensive turbo parts. For that price I don't think it should hurt much. I plan on doing a turbo build pretty soon, so I will be checking in to see how it goes if you decide to do it. | | | 07-09-2008, 08:51 AM | #3 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Can you refer me to the m42club turbo link? to comfort my laziness | | | 07-09-2008, 09:55 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Southern California - Orange county Posts: 978 | im planning the same thing as well im sure we all have m42's right? we should share some thoughts and get the ball rolling on this project. __________________ 1995 318ti Cosmos Black Bilsteins w/ H&R Sport, Depos w/ angeleyes and HID 5K, 50% short throw kit, Custom fogged intake, AC schnitzer pedels w/ deadpedels, leather stickshift knob, vitesse tuning Ebreak boot w/ shift boot, X-Brace, 325/328 brake upgrade, Gray millpoint leather and cloth interior, custom computer multimedia system, and Style 5 BBS 17" rims, M3 Mirrors, CF Hood | | | 07-09-2008, 10:01 AM | #5 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | I am down, especially if the turbos are that cheap. The M42 seems like it was destined for a nice turbo build. And in my defense I have read Corky Bells' book on turbo charging in and out serveral times so i have a pretty good idea on what i'm looking for. __________________ --Kenny-- Myspace Speed costs money, I work with what I got | | | 07-11-2008, 07:51 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: Texas Posts: 128 | I've seen plenty of Turbo m42'ed e30's around but less than a handfull of turbo'ed Ti's. Just more incentive to do it . If i am able to scrounge up the cash before this summer is out I will do a full write-up on it with plenty of pics. If not then it will be a good winter project. __________________ --Kenny-- Myspace Speed costs money, I work with what I got | | | 07-12-2008, 12:27 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Odenton, MD Posts: 419 | I did a homemade turbo once (on my 1999 Hyundai Accent), it's harder and costs more than you think... With that in mind, I've still considered doing it again on the ti. With the last setup, I made everything - the manifold, the intercooler pipes, the new throttle body setup, everything. If I had my way on the ti, I'd at least try to source a manifold, as that's really the hardest part to get right. Here's the new owner driving it. http://teamziptie.com/misc/06-03-07%...Cumberland.wmv | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
