Default Auto Transmission Gasket Leak

I have a 97 318ti Auto, It has started to leak transmission fluid around the pan in the tranny. All of the Fluid is from the pan down and there in none above the line of the pan. Is it possible to drain the tranny, remove the pan, change the gasket, then refill the trans? I ask because the transmission is supposed to be sealed for good(?) The car has 114K, I have owned since 80K and have done no service on the trans. It seems to be leaking more fluid each day. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes you can change the gasket on your transmission. I changed the filter and gaskets on mine and it runs and shifts smooth.

I was also able to find this article about changing the fluid/gaskets/filter in the transmission. It looks to be pretty straightforward. I also have a question about the Power Steering / Auto Trans. Fluid tank. Are they both connected? If you top off that reservoir will you be topping off the transmission also? I notice that the color of the fluid in that tank is a kind of grayish red. Is this common? Thanks again for the help!
