I see no where to attach one? help please | | | 03-30-2005, 02:16 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | there are no specific mounting points in the back of the ti for car seats, per se. you could use the factory harness attachment points, but then you're out of a belt if you need one. my suggestion is to pull the seat out (lift from the forward edge, it'll pop right out) and see if you can get longer bolts and attach brackets to where the seatbelts attach at the lowest point. you could also easily go behind the seat on the belt side and use the trunk tie down. but, i don't think this is the safest bet. EDIT: some seats (i still believe this is done) can just be buckled in. i would start there before mucking around with modifications. | | | 03-30-2005, 06:19 AM | #3 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 03-30-2005, 11:34 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: bris Posts: 287 | it is for a baby, thanks, i'll have to check that link out at home since i can only view certain websites here at work! | | | 03-30-2005, 11:44 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: England Posts: 2 | Quote: Originally Posted by dodj Hi, I have a 96 318ti, I live in australia (if it makes any difference) I am in need of a baby seat, I haven't had a look around, but can a baby seat be fitted in the back of the ti. We use one of those three in one travel systems (buggy, carry seat and car seat in one). im sure they have them in Oz. Im in England and got mine at a shop called "mothercare", sure you have an equivalent down there! __________________ Drewston[FONT=Trebuchet MS][SIZE=3][COLOR=DarkSlateGray] :icon_peac | | | 03-30-2005, 11:51 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: bris Posts: 287 | thanks mate!! | | | 04-11-2005, 09:17 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Essex UK Posts: 164 | Just to clear something up, if you have a front passenger airbag you must not under any circumstances use a child/baby seat in the front passenger seat unless the passenger airbag can be disabled. The child seat that uses exsisting adult restraints in the rear seats are the best option for you it would appear. Fits OK, getting her in/out was no worse than a 4 door if your back is in working order. The only option is to see if there is a retro fit kit for the LATCH system where there is a bar bolted directly to the car body between the lower seat and upper seat back. All cars in the US after 1999 came with them (I think). We are having them retro fit into our 1999 VW Passat for free. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 04-13-2005, 10:36 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Cali-ti- how on earth did you find a child seat for out ti? That's amazing! I went to Real OEM but it seems like you cannot order or speak to anyone. Is it just a part database at the moment that I should go to the dealer w/ a part #? __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 04-13-2005, 11:16 PM | #10 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | lol ...
