Question fuel pump noise question

I removed my rear interior and back seat to inspect for rust, speaker refurb, and general cleaning. As I understand it the level sender is on the left and the pump is on the right?
When I gain and hold speed I have a noise... buzzing/whirling... my question is: does the fuel pump make this noise as you gain speed? (it quiets to nothing as I slow down to a stop). And if so is some noise normal? I've got a new filter coming and wonder if that will help. I'm just curious and hoping it's not drive line as it quiets as I stop. Also, I could hear it faintly when the rear seat was in as well.
thoughts?
