I'm looking to buy a clean Ti near Connecticut, (I am in guilford to be exact). My budget is $5k, and from what I've seen that should get me a very nice example. I'm not too particular on features since I know these are rare, but a manual is necessary! Thanks | | | 06-30-2012, 06:04 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | Good luck with your search. I found my ti on auto trader, but I had to travel out of state to buy it and pick it up. You may or may not feel comfortable doing that. Generally, ti's tend to have the same equipment. A surprisingly large number do not have cruise control. Many don't come with fog lights, but they can be retrofitted easily if you want them. Most have leather covered steering wheels. There are three models; base, active, and sport. Have fun looking! You can get a nice example for 5k, but you have to look carefully and over a period of time. | | | 06-30-2012, 08:02 AM | #3 | Z3 Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Usa Posts: 660 | Welcome. This is the best place to look. I bought a nice example here. __________________ Frederic 1997 318Ti M-Tech & 1999 Z3 2.8 | | | 06-30-2012, 02:28 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2012 Location: St. Louis/Columbia, MO Posts: 8 | Thanks for the replies- I probably should've started this thread earlier as I have to find a car by August to go back to school. The automatics are surprisingly peppy, and the transmission has a reputation for dependability. I like mine. One other thing: ti engines don't put out a lot of torque, so if you get a MT you'll be shifting a lot. | | | 07-01-2012, 05:40 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: LA & Colo Spgs Posts: 210 | Quote: Originally Posted by jca ... ti engines don't put out a lot of torque, so if you get a MT you'll be shifting a lot. | Which is also a lot of fun! The 5-speed cars are also 1-2mpg better on gas than their AT counterparts. Ian--Take a look at my 1996 ti for sale in Colorado. It spent all of it's life in Arizona and the last year in Colorado, so has ZERO rust anywhere which might be a good option for you in CT. http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36552 It is priced well below your budget, which would leave you some room to pay for shipping. Shipping from Colorado to Newington, CT, zip 06106 is about $900 using a major carrier. Give me a call and we can work something out. | | | 07-02-2012, 03:21 AM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2012 Location: Cohoes, NY Posts: 1 | ive got a 1997 ti. that im looking to sell. message me if your still looking. | | | 07-03-2012, 02:45 PM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2012 Location: St. Louis/Columbia, MO Posts: 8 | Quote: Originally Posted by Budget M3 Which is also a lot of fun! Well cared for, every service record, all the original keys incl. valet (two key fobs), original window sticker. New exhaust, new michelin tires. Runs great, body straight only 3-4 dings, no accidents, clean title. Only blemishes are; headliner starting to sag, two small rust bubbles at left rear quarter panel, headlight covers starting to fog. My goal was to find a TI in silver to replace my previous black TI that I sold to a friend at work, but could not find a silver one in time of that sale, so I picked up this black one that I am only selling to continue my search for a silver TI or M3. Driving my E28 for the summer. The owner also has an M52 swap package with new parts available. I would have bought this by now if I had less cars. It's well within your budget and is a rare Sport package/Cali roof combo.
