Default auto window trouble

im having a problem with my automatic windows. it seems that about once a week when i put the window down all the way it slides out of the front track and it is a big hassle to fix. it seems to only happen when i push the window button all the way in so it goes the whole way down by itself. anyone else ever have this problem or know what could be the problem with my window. this is getting really annoying. thanks

I, too have had problems just like the one you described with your window. In my case, I ended up having to replace the window regulator. I was told that the extreme heat here in Texas causes the plastic clips holding the window in place to become brittle and fail. My car is also black, so that may contribute to the problem. I also noticed that the windows seem to drag a bit more just after a good wash. I've solved the problem somewhat by using a silicone based cleaner on the surface to make it slide in and out of the door a little easier.
Don't feel bad... My mechanic says he sees it a lot in this model.

Anyone know what it should cost to replace the regulator? My mechanic quoted me $350 which really seems steep I see the part for $70 online. Thanks a mil! Paul

I have a cosmos black 99 Ti Sport...I also had to replace the window regulator on the driver's side window (twice)....it is a common occurrence. Try lubricating the window tracks...the BMW dealer told me to do this as well.
