Default sport model?

ok ive had this car for a few months now and ive been under the impression its a sport model but i was searching to find exactly what that consists of and couldnt. its a 1995 so 1996 info doesnt help me... yes i searched.
it did not have painted bumpers originally but the front and side skirts were painted. it has the square mirrors but they are painted, i assume from the factory. all black interior with the millpoint(?) design cloth and leather, no cruise control. havent been able to confirm the lsd yet and thats really my main point of interest. what does the 1995 sport model include and based on what ive said about my car, do i have it?

and i really would like to know how many were imported cause i have a feeling its a fairly rare car since the 318ti is fairly rare anyways.

Do you have the M-tech body kit? Do you have sport seats? They are leather with cloth inserts.

There were roughly 30k sold in the US from 95-99.

EDIT: After reading ur post again it sounds like it is a sport if you have the cloth/leather seats and cloth inserts in the door panels. Sport models didn't have cruise control.

I've heard pictures are helpful in these cases.

The sport model has the m-tech body kit and a stiffer suspension, and the leather/cloth interior & sport seats. Sports came with 16's and active and bases came with 15's on them. It does not have cruise control or an obc, those are the only differences. As i stated above only 30k were sold from 95-99,i have never seen nor heard of how mnay of each model.

I just looked at your pics and you do not have the m-tech body kit or the trim. Seems like it's an active or base with the sport interior inside. Was this car in a car accident before? Cause on 95's all the lower trim is gray like you rear bumper and your side skirts are painted and front bumper is painted. In my honest opinion this car was wrecked and they put on all the standard body parts and not the sport exterior parts.

Give a dealer the last 7 digits of your VIN and they will tell you what package/trim you had. You either have a rebuilt sport or a built up active since you have fogs, which most people would skip adding esp if it's a rebuild.

Hmmm...
Sport seats and side panels
NON-sport front and rear bumpers, and side moulding.
It's probably easy to add Sport seats and side panels to an Active or Base.

Based on the grey at the bottom of the rear bumper, my vote is that you've got a Base that's had seats/panels added, and the front bumper painted.

Speaking of the painted bumper.... is it just my eyes, or are the lower front bumper and side panels whiter than the rest of the car?

I'd suggest running a Carfax report to see if the car has been in any wrecks.

no it hasnt been wrecked, the lower panels were painted just before i bought it. it was actually for sale on here... yes they are a tad whiter but looks 10X better than grey. the second owner( he was on here as tampaTi) had it a very short time just a few weeks and painted the bottoms except the rear, added the rims, suspension, chip, intake, and the owner before him had left it completely stock. i also have the stock wheels also which i believe are the 15's with a little lip

i ran a carfax before i bought it which was clean and it also shows no damage anywhere at all

If you have the stock wheels and they are 15's then it's either a base or active. One of the previous owners must've upgraded the interior.

But if you look at this thread he states it's a sport, but it does not have the sport body kit.

Everything I've ever read here said that the Sport package includes 16" wheels. And I'm pretty sure that the grey stuff along the bottom of the bumpers and side skirts was only on the Base model. On the Active, those were painted body color.

I'm leaning towards it being a Base that's had some of the Sport componants added.

Regardless of which option package the car had/has, the most important thing is that you enjoy the car and take care of it. :-)

Don't forget, in 1995 only the Club Sport had the M-Technic trim.
Judging by the sport seats, my guess is it is a Sport.

Oooh... So, in '95 there was a Sport AND a Club Sport? I thought there was only the Club Sport, but now that you've pointed this out, I seem to recall mention of it back when I first started shopping for a 318ti last year.

So, this car could be, in fact, a '95 Sport, and the confusion is due to the '95 Sport being significantly different than later Sports.

Correct. I forgot what the differences are between a 95 Club Sport and 95 Sport other than M-Technic trim and the fact that a 95 Sport had 15" wheels.

so since its a 95, it could very well be a sport? yes i do enjoy the car a lot but i want to be sure of what it is. i know its not a club sport, and those were the only ones that got the m technic bodykit, but this now seems to be a true 1995 sport correct?
