Denver Hello, I just need some reassuring here. I have been looking for another BMW for a while, currently have a 325i E46. We were pretty much set on a 325ix E30 but have always loved the 318ti's. Here is the one I am looking at. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/993433508.html The only thing I am unsure about is the price. Is 5K too much, should it be more around 4-4.5k? I called the owner and he said the paint is in good condition, no chips, no dents in the body. So assuming the car is as described and just has normal age wear would I be getting a good deal? Also, I noticed there were some Denver people here, how does the ti do in snow and the mountains? That is the original reason we were looking at a 325ix but they are impossible to find in good condition for daily driving. I would assume snow tires would make it possible to drive on hills with snow. Thanks for the help! | | | 01-17-2009, 02:07 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I think the ix would do better compared to the ti. I've managed very nicely with good snows and extra weight in the trunk. Never drove an ix, but I can't see how it would compare. Although, hatchbacks are so useful! __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-17-2009, 02:22 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Golden, CO Posts: 45 | I should specify a bit more. We aren't buying a car just for something that does good in winter. We just need to get around in it. We buy cars that are fun to drive and BMW's. As long as the ti can get around decently then that works for us. The only reason for the 325ix was that my wife is a little unsure if she wants to drive a RWD car in the winter. But the E46 does fine in the winter so I could always drive the ti when it's bad Do you think that car is priced right? The miles don't seem too high for me, but I could be wrong. | | | 01-17-2009, 02:59 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Well, I'm partial to the sports, which it is. I think it is priced to sell. There are some common problems. Sagging headliner, bad window regulators. Other than that, the car is a ball. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-17-2009, 03:00 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Quote: Originally Posted by blefevre But the E46 does fine in the winter so I could always drive the ti when it's bad | Drive the e46 when it's bad, and the ti when it's good As for pricing, it's not that bad. I spent 5k on mine with 150k on the car, and 50k on the engine. The car had some scratches on it, but considering the mechanically state it was in, it was perfect. I probably would've spent $6k if I knew it was this mechanically sound. You could probably talk him down to $4.5k. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. Right now I'm asking for $4500 without the rims though. The only reason for it being for sale is that I'm going to need to buy a truck. If you want more info about it you can email me at elchicano411@hotmail.com -dave | | | 01-18-2009, 09:03 AM | #8 | Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Golden, CO Posts: 45 | I am in contact with the seller right now, the car is still for sale and I will be looking at it within a few days! I would actually buy your car but my wife needs a manual. | | | 01-18-2009, 05:56 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | Well good luck with the buy.
