It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

Your speedo is probably off. Borrow a GPS nav from someone as see what it reads. Or reset your average speed when you are crusising. Mine is off by 4 mph at 80mph, which is nice. If I set the cruise at 80, I'm actually going 76mph.

I bought the car used... I dont know what was done with it, but i've topped 125. I was racing my friend in a Passat, cars were dead even on a deserted highway at 3am. But then I shifted into 5th... of course his passat was auto.

My speedo said we were doing 130, but his said 125. I'll take his over mine.

reset the thing where the clock shows right?? and where it tells you MPG also?? if ur talking about that, mine is broken. I dont know if its the unit or fuse. And i dont know which fuse i should check. I checked clock last time and didnt do nothing. That unit went out with the cluster also, the gas and temperature. I replaced a fuse and the gas and temperatue gauge started working again but not the clock. So i dont know which fuse to check, and i dont have owner manual book.

Maybe it's for insurance purposes too then. I've not heard of a vehicle that's computer-controlled that doesn't have a limiter.

If you guys just need to remove the speed limiter, I have a nice little controller that will do that. It also adds the one-touch lane change signals you get on recent European cars – briefly tap the turn stalk and you get 3 or 5 flashes – which is such a fun and useful mod I am surprised more people don't add it.
Sounds neat, tell us more.

I have started a new thread about adding one-touch turn signals (making them blink 3-5 times) here: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?p=50155

I've hit 125mph in my Ti on several occasions and I know she could go a little faster, but I have stock wheels and didn't think it would be worth risking my life to push it.

My top speeds are:

1993 Honda Del Sol = 125 mph
2001 Volkswagen Jetta = 130mph
1995 BMW 318ti = 120mph (The only car that did not automatically have a cutoff for the speed. Could have gone faster, but I was in CA and was the first time driving the car when I bought it)

Good Times

Yes, that car has a very happy engine above 5000 rpm. It is too bad the music will probably stop around 116-118 mph (actual not indicated) with the car eagerly charging toward the red zone.

I was blaring music the whole way. Should it not do that? I remember because it was a long trip from San Diego (where I bought my car) to Phoenix down I-8.

Maybe my ti is just special or something...
