Replaced the fuel pump relay and I have power to the relay, but no power after the relay or at the fuel pump. I do have continuity of 11.74 on the + side of the pump, but my light tester don't light up and of course their is no noise from the pump at all. I tried to run a + wire from another battery and a ground to the fuel pump and still no noise. any ideas at all ? I'm stumped and I havn't tried a code reader yet because I don't have one. It's my first BMW 1993 318I 4 Cylinder. Please Help if you can ? Thanx! That is, if the computer doesn't get what it needs from that sensor it won't power the pump. I don't know if this is the case on your engine, but it might be worth a shot. | | | 04-07-2012, 12:54 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: Minnesota Posts: 4 | Reply to bullmand 326290 Quote: Originally Posted by bullmand On the OBDII cars the crank position sensor is involved in allowing power to the fuel pump. Is their any way to test that sensor ? or do I just need to use the OBD reader for that code or codes ? I want to thank You for the info ! My car has been down for about four months and I really miss driving it. I will give it a try and let you know what I come up with. Thanx again for your help, you don't know how much it means to me. The crankshaft position sensor on those should be right on the front of the engine. It's a black plastic sensor pointed at a toothed wheel that's behind the crankshaft pulley. Trace it back to where it's plugged to the harness, probably near or under the intake manifold, and check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 it should be around 1280 ohms. If you're looking at the plug with the single bump on top and the two bumps on the bottom, the terminals are numbered 1-3, from left to right. Good luck. | | | 04-07-2012, 11:11 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: Minnesota Posts: 4 | Thank You ! Going to get the sensor in two days by Fed X, OES Genuine CS position Sensor $70.95 and will likely buy a VDO fuel pump for $152.95 Grand total $223.90 , That's not to bad. I'll let you know the out come and many thanx !
