They covered the windshield is flour and eggs. Not fun to clean off. Seemed to be random attack. Years later while parked on the street in Madison, someone through a street sign through the rear hatch window. Glass everywhere. They didnt steal anything, just put a broken street sign, pole side first, into the car. | | | 05-19-2008, 10:48 PM | #20 | Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Atlanta, GA Posts: 70 | I know mine was abused solidly at least once. I bought it about a year ago from a guy who works for a fairly reputable local shop and knows people in the Roswell/Alpharetta Georgia BMW community. So anyway, the kid seemed very nice and a decent mechanic. I talked with him and checked out the car before buying it. I even did a Carfax report and the only thing reported was another car tagging the back of the ti in a parking lot. Minimal damage and only to the bumper so everything looked good. Some time later as I started to play with the car more and more I finally realized that it had apparently had a pretty decent wreck on the driver's side with several things being replaced. I'm pretty sure that the kid had himself a nice little wreck and fixed things up enough and then dumped it. In fairness there were enough signs that I probably should have been able to catch them and it's not a bad car. There's absolutely no vibration or pulling so the frame and chassis seem true. I just hate that feeling of being lied to by that little bitch. | | | 05-19-2008, 11:20 PM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | right after I got mine.. somebody stole the shorty antenna.. unfortunatly they didn't just unscrew it.. they broke it off of the amplified mount, destroying the mount. $75 from the dealer.. I went without until a nice guy here from PR sold me one for $25 | | | 05-19-2008, 11:54 PM | #22 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | When I bought my TI, it already has key marks on both sides, and a dent in the nose. During the time of my ownership, someone back into @ IHOP, and left me with a bent hood, fender, and a scratch on the bumper. Repairs costs up to $ 1,1xx Just got it back today, and the ebay splitters lips I bought are broken. | | | 05-20-2008, 04:01 AM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | It definatly seems that BMWs and the Ti in particular gets a lot of abuse. When I had my old Tiburon, nobody touched it and when I wrecked it at 130,000+ miles, it still looked like new (minus the body damage from the accident) | | | 05-20-2008, 06:47 PM | #24 | Member Join Date: May 2008 Location: Spruce Creek, PA Posts: 56 | Now I know why the guy I bought mine from always parks miles away from everyone else. I've actually been doing this too lately. I think I'll keep it up. | | | 05-20-2008, 06:55 PM | #25 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | walking an extra 100 feet is worth not having to fix a nice door dent or scratch __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 05-20-2008, 07:33 PM | #26 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | thankfully, no one has ever hurt my little Ti, other than a couple of minor door dings... i noticed people in parking lots around here taking great care in opening their doors (for the most part) when parked next to my car, they respect the roundell and knew if they were caught hitting it, they'd have a repair bill up the ying... cause it would go to the best (read as super expensive) body shop around. BUTTT If anyone intentionally did anything to my car, they would meet my louisville pretty f'ing quick. Luckily I live in a little town and any vandalism would get back to me within a few days from the little bastards bragging up how they messed up this bimmer... but whence i found those little cocklickers, id pound them right back into their mothers womb, and then kick her in the guts so she miscarried. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 05-20-2008, 08:59 PM | #27 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | lol philly, at least we have one common belief about our cars | | | 05-20-2008, 09:16 PM | #28 | Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Burke, VA Posts: 70 | about two months ago i was leaving a party and a tool kicked my car..(while i was in it) so i got out and beat the s**t out of him then left. nothing ever happened since | | | 05-20-2008, 10:53 PM | #29 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | Quote: Originally Posted by jtbeemer Now I know why the guy I bought mine from always parks miles away from everyone else. It really sucked because I had saved up $500 to rebuild the differential and then this happened. I'm planning to get the oil filter housing gasket and the two infamous cooling system connectors replaced next week so I at least feel like I'm making progress in getting her fixed up. __________________ Trixie Alpine White 1996 BMW 318ti Sport | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
