Default DASC on 230k

I'm about to purchase a DASC for my 318, should i purchase an engine with less miles prior to strapping it, should i rebuild it, or do you think it will be good if I keep the psi below 10.

I'm aware I'm going to have to do support mods once it's on (preferably prior)

Well no one has gave you any information so I will give it a shot.

It depends: How many of those miles are driven by you? Do you do regular oil changes and keep the car in good working order?

If it is a engine that is not beat up you should be fine under 10psi. My 1997 318 M44 had 117K when I installed the DASC. I ran a 3.2" pulley and meth injection and drove that motor very hard retiring it a around 179K as a core for a stroker motor. Metric Mechanic disassembled my 179K core and it was in very good condition with many miles left on it.

I have installed a turbo on a car with 220K miles (Maybe higher mileage). We boosted that car 12psi but mostly daily 8-9psi. The car was sold and it is still in good condition as far as I know. Turbo's make a lot more power per psi of boost since there is no lost power from the crank pulley turning the super charger.

So in my opinion if the motor is in good shape you should be fine. A leak down test would tell you the real internal condition of the rings and valves if you want to be sure your motor is not too tired for some boost.

Take care, John S
